I have these big bunp like things on my shoulders and back. It seems like it could be acne of some sort, but they're almost blister like. It seems to clear up somewhat, except for the bigger bumps. Does anyone have any ideas on what it really is, or what to do about it? Thanks.

Do you excerise and wear sweaty clothes for a while afterwards? I'm thinking there might be excess oil getting trapped from your clothes. Don't play with them or pop them. If they are really painful, you should probably see a Dr to be sure there is nothing else going on.

If it's just acne, you have to attack it where it starts, with your diet. For me, diet was the cause and solution. Topical medications fight the symptoms. Start by eliminating trans fats and eating more fruits and vegetables. Once you start cleaning up the inside of your body, by eating properly, the outside of your body (your skin) will be get cleaned up too. I started a website to document my problem and solution.

You might find it helpful to read my story. Just remember to eat an all natural/organic diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Stay away from processed foods. Use mild, all natural cleansers and don't pick at your face. Get lots of sleep and enough water for your body weight. Remember, clean body = clean skin. While you're waiting for your skin to clear, remind yourself that acne is a challenge that you will overcome soon. Once you're rid of it, tell all your friends how you did it. That's what I'm doing. God Bless.

Back acne can show up in many forms, such as blackheads, pimples, pustules, or even the most severe form of acne, cysts.

Cysts are like pimples, but big huge bumps that sometimes hurt, and don't pop...

(I'd see a dermatologist to be sure though, take my diagnosis with a grain of salt)

It may be just a coincidence or may be caused by external irritants such as tight clothing or a heavy backpack. It is not possible to keep the area of back and buttocks untouched because we all must sit down or carry things around. For this reason, it is better to concentrate on the treatment of back acne rather than fret about the cause of this skin disorder.

There are some differences between back acne and other forms of acne. Other acne may be caused by heredity and genetic disposition but in the back acne, except for the severe cases, people don’t have the problem just as their parents did. In anyway, some degree of back acne afflicts people all over the world so it can be expected that more than one person of any family might have shown signs of back acne.

Unlike other acne forms, food does not seem to play any role in the formation or flare up of back acne. There has been no evidence that fried or oily food or fat rich diet causes any difference or worsens the condition of back acne.
Excessive oil production or dirt does not seem to affect condition of back acne. Even excessive perspiration after exercise, whether washed off promptly or not, does not seem to trigger back acne or blackheads on the back.

Stress, which is known to worsen facial acne, does not show the same effect on back acne, perhaps because stress causes people to be worried about their acne and pick at them which worsens the condition, but people suffering from back acne cannot reach their back and pick on the back acne.

Occurrence of back acne in simpler conditions may be treated by over the counter drugs. But the severe form of acne on the back, such as cystic acne must be treated by some skin specialist or dermatologist.

Most probably, the simpler forms of acne might disappear with daily hygienic routine but as cystic acne goes deep into the skin and causes permanent scarring, it should be given more medical attention than simple pustules or blackheads on the back.

You can try products that are meant for facial acne, with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid in it, and spread on your back in a gel form (gels are stronger than creams). And if that doesn't clear it up, go see a dermatologist and get a prescription for it.

Have you tried washing the area with a medicated soap? I think it is good to use a scrub too. Just don't pick at it. You will only make it worse. I went through that when I hit puberty and I just did the above and got some sun exposure and mine went away. If it gets worse, seek a dermatologists. They will let you know what is the best method of treatment. Good luck! :)

If I were you, I would go to the dermotologist. I dont think this will go away on its own and it may get worst and spread. If it is Acne on the back, ask about accutane, this will clear it up.
Good Luck

lay in a bath of butter sounds funny but it has linamene in it and it is in most acne treatments but all the fragrence and crap sometime iritate the skin and make thing worse so butter is a more natural form. Hope this works for ya!

Ask your doctor about it, it may be a type of fungus on your head that washes down your back and causes it. My partner had this happen.

My other advice is to wash your back with soap and a long reach brush, after washing your hair. Then any residue of shampoo or oils from your head will get washed off your back.

Zits on Body and Face

Everybody has suffered from zits or pimples at some point of time or the other. Though people think zits affect only the teens, it is not true. Men women and even babies can suffer from zits. Zits tend to affect women more than men.........
