To "know" someone was taking care of you and watching over you would feel great. I wish I could believe it, but honestly you might as well try to convince me of Santa Clause.

I don't blame you Christians for believing at all is what I'm trying to say. But please understand that I can't, even though it would be nice (minus the dogma).

Does anyone else feel the same way?

P.S. Please don't try to convert me since I've already explained my position.

Yeah, it's the only thing I miss about being a Christian.

I can relate to what you're saying to some extent. I was never especially devout, but I sometimes miss praying. I mean asking for something, not just those silly prayers you say at bedtime and before meals and in church. I know it was just a superstition and a crapshoot, and that there are other things you can do which are just as effective.

And of course it's much easier to just give in and go with the crowd and blend in.

But I'm sticking to forging my own path, whether it be through dark woods or whatever.

I didn't believe for almost 30 yrs. Today I do. But to see me you'd never guess me as a Christian. For I do not attend church, I do not follow any religion but the book itself. I follow no minister, preacher or pope. I have no crosses in my house nor around my neck, I have no stickers, no pin ups, no signs, no pictures and don't even carry my bible around nor is left out in the open. I don't go around preaching to others, I don't quote the bible past a few forums or chats I do online, strictly as a learning and sharing experience. To see me, you'd never know I believed, expect by how I lead my life and the actions I show.

True religion is between you and God.....all the rest is goop and gunk to confuse you. Just look around.....and see the confusion yourself first hand.

No where does it state you must attend church. It even states to do things behind closed doors. Tells you to pray in private, to do good deeds in private. To take no glory for what you do with the Lord. And those that follow this....reap the rewards in heaven.

And you have to get past all the images, art work and stuff you see pertaining to it all....for all that is false, just drawings.

Sometimes I feel the same way. The pressure of having a different opinion is so great that sometimes, I just feel like breaking down and submitting to their ways. Take a few asprins and I feel alright again.

Sometimes I long for the rogue of protection to surround me, but I can never let myself fully believe in it...

Actually, you've described one of the advantages of being a Christian: to know that someone's watching out for you, who's got your back, who's planning wonderful things for you, who will redeem the bad things in your life and make them worthwhile.

We believe that God is love, and a person who loves you usually watches out for you, in his or her own way.

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, Linus's security blanket while he waits for the Great Pumkin to appear. Gotta admit, that Linus never ever wavered in his faith. I also gotta admit, the Great Pumpkin never showed up.

Yes, to be brainwashed from a young age. I'm not saying it wouldn't have its perks, but I would still choose the truth.

The brainwashing of children only creates an us vs them attitude, Lennon was onto something.

Yes, of course. That's why everyone tries so hard to prove that Santa Claus doesn't exist.
