I know the most intelligent is the border collie.
I know the least intelligent is the afgan hound.
I got that info on line.

Where do yokies and silkies stand? (my puppy is a mix of the two)

I would not believe everything you read. Much of what you find online is opinion only. You cant just go by breed either...some dogs are smart..others are not....just like people. I have a shepherd/lab mix who is smarter then any pure breed I have ever met.

The intelligence list that you refer to is based on trainability and is not a true reflection of intelligence, if you based intelligence instead on problem solving or natural inborn ability to think for themselves the list could change dramatically , sighthounds like afghans are independent thinkers and problem solvers bred to work independent of man without needing guidance to get the job done, so if based on that ability they would be near the top of the list as they are highly independent thinkers and do not like being told what to do(stubborn) which makes them harder to train. It does not make them unintelligent they simply see no purpose in following orders or trying to please their owners, unless motivated to do so.

It takes a lot of factors to come with a true intelligence and many hard to measure, because trainability is easiest to measure that is often what is used though unfair to many breeds like the hounds, non sporting dogs and companion dogs.

My yorkie was intelligent-- learned tricks quickly, easy to train, and had tons of personality. A really awesome dog!

I had a cocker spaniel, too, and I would say the yorkie was definitely smarter than her. But she was totally champion bred so they bred her for looks and not for temperament.

these two are the dumbest of all dogs. im not trying to be mean, but they are very hard headed and hard to train.
