Cult. Very much into Legalism.

A cult becomes a church when the membership becomes large enough to gain respect. There is security in size and abundant numbers. Nobody will dare call powerful churches a derogatory term such as cult. But people call Adventists a cult all the time because of the small membership. Pick on the weak, why dont you cowards.

I asked a very similar question not too long ago which led me to research it a little. I am now convinced that SDA is a remenant of a 150 year-old cult that somehow managed to be resurrected for the modern age. They fit many of the warnings that the Bible gives about end-times heresies leading me to think that they might be occult related.

A neighbor of mine got involved with them, and at first I was happy, here was someone coming to God, or so I thought. But then she would get very angry at me for mentioning standard Christian things and absolutely abhorred giving days to God, such as Sundays for worship, or Christmas to celebrate Jesus' First Advent, and so on.

When I researched the teachings, I found them stuck like a broken record. It is very simplistic teachings and rarely, if ever goes past worshipping the Sabbath. I went through countless sermons and teaching and found nothing of real value or power or anything past what I learned as a very small child in church.

At any rate, there is more that is hard to explain, this particular branch might be more cultic than I realized. So far I cannot determine if this is standard SDA beliefs, which it appears to be, or just a branch going its own way.

is not a cult either, and they do believe in JESUS CHRIST, the HOLY GHOST, and all that GOD stands for. the reason why they
are hated is because they are living a more rightous and spiritous
life than we the socalled christians? i hope that yall will remember

Not a cult or a true church either.........The only true church is the catholic church...........Jesus Christ foresaw that there will be groups that will breakaway from the Church he founded and so he gave the Church the sole authority to interpret Sacred Scripture. The teaching authority of the Catholic Church comes directly from Christ and is, therefore, infallible.
Matthew 16,18-20: "And so I tell you Peter, you are a rock, and on this rock foundation I will build my Church, and not even death will ever be able to overcome it. I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven; what you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven and what you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven."
Matthew 28,20: "And teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age."
Timothy 3,15: "But if I delay, this letter will let you know how we should conduct ourselves in God's household, WHICH IS THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD, THE PILLAR AND FOUNDATION OF TRUTH."

Good luck if you are looking for the perfect church.

Be encouraged that plenty of people have met God inspite of imperfect situations like kids not having a choice of where to worship.

You have asked a potentially good question and there are some good answers already. Hope that you aren't one of those that are so wrapped up in evaluating churches/finding fault that they never meet God themselves.

well, they believe pork is poision and teach their kids as such(granted pork is not the best choice, being they eat garbage and spoiled milk) and they believe observing the sabbath is what will make them God's choosen, when the Bible clearly states having faith in the Christ as your Savior is the only true way to God the Father. Northing else will SAVE but Christ.

Well, they are the only Christian denomination that still acknowledges the Sabbath, so that would make the rest of you a bunch of pagans, worshiping on the day named for the Roman Solar Gods..

It's all a bunch of nonsense anyway.

I guess that all depends on the individual perception....one person's church is another's cult.

There's only one true church. The Catholic Church.
