Or is it possible that we have truly been deceived about what or who God really is?

I love God just as you do, to not question in my view would be a sin in it's self, there are many questions about basic Christian beliefs that simply do not fit, I am catholic and I question everything, like Jesus resurrecting physically sorry simply can't happen, spiritually yes, just like we all will one day, did Jesus have a wife and family quite possible, I could go on but that's not what is important, to me it is the wisdom Jesus spoke of that gives me the faith that God is real, and that there is a Paradise waiting for all of us, I do not believe in hell or the devil, those are just fear-mongering quotes that man has put in the bible that's all.

It is something good! God gave us a Brain to make rational intelligent desicions in life. Many Christian Scholars who had questions about Christianity found their answers when they read the Quran.
To question some of Christianitys beliefs or followings is only human, as many people have stated there are errors and contradictions in the Bible that they just can't explain...
It's not about being deceived about who God is, it's about opening your beliefs for a moment and accepting that God sent three books down for the Humans to follow. The Torah, The Bible, and then the Quran...If you can accept this possibility for a moment then you can expand your knowledge and maybe discover the answers you were searching for...

You are to use your brain. Jesus said the first and greatest commandment is to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind..." There are too many mindless Christians out there who cannot think their way out of a paper bag. Just yesterday, I got the most useless drivel on Iraq.

We are to think in a mature way about our Christian faith. The Apostle Peter admonishes us to "grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

St. Paul commands us that we are to "let this mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus..." and he also tells us in Romans 12: 2, "Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the willl og God - what is good and acceptable and perfect."

Bible Study, Systematic & Biblical Theology, Apologetics... are all tools used by Christians to engage the mind and think about God and their Christian faith.

Go ahead and ask questions. The Berean Christians are described as being "noble" because when Paul told them about the Gospel they searched the Old Testament Scriptures to see if what he was saying was true.

Faith is an essential ingredient in our belief system but it is faith informed by reason. The Christian Church has always had great thinkers so you are following a marvellous tradition.

God bless you.

Faith is believing God. Taking God at His Word and believing Him. Rational thinking, education or IQ have nothing to do with faith. God gave me a brain to serve and worship Him. God did not give me a brain to rebel against Him. I am only mentally healthy when I follow God's Word. I am only physically healthy when I follow God's Word. I am only spiritually healthy when I follow God's Word. Man cannot live by bread (food) alone, but by every Word that comes from the mouth of God.

Only you can answer that question. Do you truly love God? If your implying tha having doubt leads inevitably to non belief, then I for one am a walking, talking testament to the opposite. i have had, and still have doubts. I chose to take those doubts and research them. Not only from the bible, but from non-religious sources as well. The interesting thing to me is that when i do the research, I'm constantly being drawn closer to the truth of Christ.

Its O.K. to ask questions about basic Christian beliefs as long as you don't curse God.

Try reading "Rational Spirituality" available on the Dhaxem website. To me, it was an eye opener, and it showed me who God really is.

Huh?
Many ask questions, they always will.
Do you love God?
That is the question. Only you and God know that. And we know who God is, when we study His word. He is the God of the Bible, and His Holy Spirit teaches us who believe, and guide us into all truth---and that is when we become more secure in Him- our faith becomes stronger.

You imply that you don't know if you love God, that you don't even know Who He is. It seems as though you're speaking of yourself.
