Yes.
According to The Department of the Treasury's Bureau of Engraving and Printing:
Defacement of currency is a violation of Title 18, Section 333 of the United States Code. Under this provision, currency defacement is generally defined as follows: Whoever mutilates, cuts, disfigures, perforates, unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking association, Federal Reserve Bank, or Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such item(s) unfit to be reissued, shall be fined not more than $100 or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.
With love in Christ.

In the UK a banknote is the legal equivalent of an IOU- it's just a promisary note issued by a bank so it wouldn't be illegal to deface one and I'd be surprised if the US was different in that respect.

Go ahead! People write websites on dollar bills, to 'track' where the dollar has been...cross it out. I cross out the pyramid with the eye at the top or make funny faces...so far no one has come to arrest me. That is my form of 'protest', have at it!

It's actually illegal to deface money. It is the property of the government, not that it will stop anyone from doing it or that you would ever be prosecuted.

But who would notice?
Most people don't look at much more than the denomination and GWs picture.
Seems like a wasted effort to me.

Here's the plan. You cross off whatever you want to, send the money to me and I promise not to say who did it, OK?

Actually, being a christian, I'd support it. This counrty doesn't rely on God and it doesn't trust him either. If we did, abortion would be a clear decision.

U.S. Mint just released bunch of "Godless dollars" without "In God We Trust". Jesus, who is known for his love for currency, will be pissed off.

You're a defeated atheist,, why post such nonsense,, you will only be ridiculed even further.. YOU are viewed as wrong.
YOU do not have to believe you need to fight back.
Your free to believe as you wish,, but to deface OUR public property is illegal. Quit acting so juvenile.
