Just one!!!!!! There have been very, very many. Though as with most medicine it is not very well celebrated outside the medical establishment. Most people would rahter idolise people who have very little talent instead. "Big Brother" need I say more.
Any way back to the question.
Well as most people have mentioned Marie Curie, Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole, Jane Sharp, Dr Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, Dr Sophia Jex-Blake, Alice Stewart, Nettie Stevens, Lucy Hobbs Taylor, Yvonne Barr, Linda B. Buck, Susan Blackmore, Gurtrude B. Elion, Rosalind Franklin, Susan Greenfield, Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin, Stephanie Kwolek, Rita Levi-Montalcini, and many more.
My ONE though would be Dr Fiona Wood. The victims of the Bali Bombing would be very greatful to her as she saved many peolpes lives. She has devoloped a system of spray on skin for burn victims. This speeds up the growth of the patients own skin.
