There must be some way of discovering a replacement for that power ?

Many items over time have been created, invented. But after wards either the patent was bought up by big oil, or the inventor mysterious died and his plans were lost. has happened over and over again.

You can look on YouTube and Google and there are some vids on the old water car from the inventor in Ohio (near me, I recall this as a kid) and others that have done similar work. Process of osmosis will create hydrogen to power a car.

Plus look at solar power.....its the same it was 20 yrs ago....big oil purposely won't allow that technology to grow for how would they charge you to take from the sun that is free. that is why big oil is against water, wind, solar....they can't charge you for it.

There's already options. We have hydrogen technology being developed, actually BMW has just started producing a car that has a combustion hydrogen engine that can also use gas, so if you live in a place with a hydrogen station you can use it, but if you go on a trip somewhere where there is none you can use gas.

Also there's ethanol which is fuel made from corn. This is getting used in formula 1 racing now as it is cleaner, cheaper, and more efficient(they actually had to reduce the gas tank on them to ensure they'd have the same number of pit stops).

It's all a matter of integrating technology, which can take time, but all you need is for people to want it and it will come. Besides I'm sure people will appreciate cheap fuel again.

The *real* answer:

We have alternatives (all mentioned above), but they COST more than oil from the ground.

As soon as someone comes up with something that is CHEAPER than oil, then we'll really have something. OR when oil prices go up so high, then the alternatives will be equal to the price of oil and we'll start using them.

It's all about economics: supply and demand.

Some sugar producing islands in the West Indies convert the left over sugar cane into fuel to run their cars.

Bio-mass !!!!!
Rotting faeces in a biodigester creates methane which burns relatively cleanly.
(Rotting poo in a compost bin makes natural gas which only makes water and carbon dioxide when it burns)

But if you meant oil for hinges i would suggest finely ground carbon suspended in a liquid.

There already is: Hydrogen.

A clean burning fuel with only water as a product of combustion.

Why this hasn't been introduced yet is anyone's guess. Did someone say vested interests?...

HYDROGEN, BIO DIESEL, ELECTRIC, BIO-ELECTRIC,

LOOK into it , you will be surprised what you find!!!

CARS that run on ALTERNATIVE FUELS HAVE BEEN around LONG TIME AGO, but the TECHNOLOGIES WERE KEPT AWAY FROM THE PUBLIC , BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE MADE MONEY ON "IT"!!!!
