I was kicked out my house a while back, im 16 and i was living in a rough neighbour hood in a decreped hotel. One night i woke up and vividly heard a man calling a ambulance just outside my door "i think hes had a heart attack".

Now i know CPR like the back of my hand, but i did nothing i just went back to sleep knowing full well that i was probably the only person who could save him.

Turns out he was fine but thats not the point.

Given the circumstances as you describe them I think you acted properly (although you too could have called the police).

But living in a hotel by yourself at 16 - you should call the police on your parents. They are still legally responsible for you regardless of what you did to get kicked out.

I would have helped him, thats the purpose for learning CPR . and yes you were a jerk ..what if that were you or someone close to you and some body would have just "went back to sleep"?

Seems a bit selfish that you would rather sleep than potentially help save someone's life.

As a Human Being, it is Your duty to render assistance to anyone in distress, regardless of ANYTHING ! Race, color, creed, black, white, purple, green, social status, etc.

Yep, you were a jerk.
Now if you were scared for your life maybe you weren't.
But if you were too busy to save someone then yep.
