A few days ago a small blister formed on the inside of my pinky. I don't know where it came from but it really hurt because it was right where my pinky bends. I used a clean needle to let pop the blister and then put a bandaid on it so the skin would not tear. I filled up again and I did the same thing. But this time it filled up with pus. Could this be some kind of bug bite or what is going on?

What color is the pus. If it is white with no redness, tenderness, or swelling its ok. What I would do is sanitize a pin by clearing it with rubbing alcohol (along with the blister area) and popping at the base. Once it is popped apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment. Once you apply the ointment do not put a band-aid on unless you will be running errands or cleaning. If you should let the are air dry with the antibiotic ointment so that it can heal (people usually do this when they are sleeping or watching TV) Usually I would say DON'T pop a blister b/c its just the body healing and they will pop on the there own, but if your anything like me blister drive me crazy and I have to pop them. If the area shows sign of infection such as redness, swelling, or colored pus, I would call your doctor asap.

Some suggest not popping a blister at all but if you must, then to puncture a small hole at the base of it... closest to the bottom of the blister using a needle that has been heated until glowing and then cooled without touching it... or at least not touch the very tip of it to prevent recontaminating it in effort to reduce chances for an infection.

I'd call your local Nurses On Call station and ask her what they would suggest. They may have some really good advice for you to try at home and generally, it doesn't cost anything to ask a question. I'm not sure about where you are from but our Nurses On Call listing can be found in the hospital directory of our phone book.

In the meantime, perhaps you could soak it in a warm Epsom Salt soak to help draw out the infection. Do you think maybe you could have gotten a splinter embedded in to it somehow? Not are splinters are noticeable at first, especially if you don't recall doing anything to have gotten one in the first place. One might actually begin to fester before it's noticed.

Blisters are often associated with friction or burns, though. Not sure how you'd get a blister from a splinter. Anyhow, good luck with that and if you have more worries about it, call your Nurses On Call. I'm sure there's something like them where you are at... or highly suspect, anyhow.

If you pinched it, it could be a blood blister. Or like the other person said, you could have burnt it. I doubt it could be a bug bite, I've never heard of getting blisters from that.

But all blisters go away in a few days. But if you keep popping it, it will leave a scar (I have about 3 from water blisters)

You can literally drive yourself nuts by trying to find out where you have gotten each little thing from, like bruises, scratches, bug bites, blisters, and sometimes cuts. If it is infected, then put an antibiotic ointment on it and a bandaid and then forget about it and go on about your business.

Maybe you shouldn't worry too much about it unless it gets infected which pus will start to come out of it.
You may or may not have been bitten by a bug, but whatever it is as long as it heals you should be fine.

Sounds like you got some sort of splinter under your skin. Wood, hair, glass, fiberglass, dirt. Something. It will break and come out when its time. In the meantime if you develop a rash, red streak, fever or severe pain, consult a doctor or ER.

If there is now pus in your blister, it may be infected. You should talk to a doctor.
