what reminds you of eachother? or your brotherhood? you don't have to get matching tattoos. maybe you could get something that makes you think of him and he could get something that represents you. think outside the box and i'm sure you can come up with something fun that you'll love forever.

If I were you I wouldn't feel constrained to get identical tattoos, or have them in the same locations. The best tattoos are intensely personal, and however close you are, having the same design could involve an element of compromise... or one of you could be up for a larger tattoo than the other...
If you come up with something you both like, great. If not, think about possibly getting different designs sharing the same subject matter (for example, if you used to go fishing as children, you could each find or design an individual fish tattoo... and so on). Or, you could have completely different, unrelated designs, but go together to the studio to get them done, and help one another design/choose them... Or, perhaps you'll come up with a design you both want, but one of you have it on your arm while the other chooses to have it on their back. I guess what I'm saying is, allow for some personal variation, if you need to - the shared experience will do the job of reflecting your close relationship, so the tattoos don't necessarily have to be the same.
Hope this helps - enjoy your tattoing experience!

My brother died in a drunk driving accident 4 years ago. He was asleep in the passenger seat and apparently the driver wanted to be asleep as well. He survived, my brother didn't. I want to get a tattoo for him badly but I cannot decide on what I want. I will not get anything until i'm 100% on an idea. I have a Trinity Knot on my side that I just had done. I always knew i wanted the symbol but could never decide on the design. It has taken me 14 years and 6 designs to land on what is on me. Don't take this lightly, every time you look at it, you will remember him. When my brother died, I told my son that he was a bright star in the sky and every time he sees the brightest star in the sky that's his uncle. I even had a star registered in his name. I'm leaning towards a shooting star with his name in the tail of the star, but again i won't do anything until i love it.

does your family have a family crest because mine does and that would be an awsome tattoo for a brother sister combo tattoo. Or you could do like the brothers I know did and get the word family somewhere or your last name either one would be good.

Think of something that when you look at it you think of your brother. My brother used to collect stuffed penguins when we were children so I am going to get a penguin and he is in the navy so I will get like a sailor hat on top of the penguin. Every time I see that tattoo I will remember the relationship that we have.

I would think that if you and your brother enjoyed something together as children then I would get a symbol of that. That way it is a tribute to a memory enjoyed by both of you together.

Choose something that has a lot of meaning to you both (ie: if you restore cars maybe a Mustang symbol, whatever). My best friend and I have identical lilies (which have meaning for us).

Dont do it! you never know how your relastionship with your brother is going to end up. You could be best friends now but enemies 10 years from now and be stuck with a crappy tattoo that neither one of yall is proud of. trust me. i have seen it happen!

In assuming your last names are the same, I would...
LAST NAME (centered)
You birth date <- - -space- - - -> His birth date
That way in the future, you don't regret any type of actual pictures you put on yourself. Yet at the same time you are bonded by the exact same tatoo with definite meaning.
