My cats are using the piddle puppy pads i am using for paper training my puppy?
Wonder if they are now never going to stop using them instead of spraying in the house?
Since I have begfun putting them down on the carpets the cats no longer spray the carpets?

my cat will not stop spraying evben though she is spayed....
she was spraying marking our carpets till she started using piddle pads for puppies...
No i do not like it but i would hate to give a cat away for marking the carpets so the piddle pads seem to keep her from messing out carpets up now?
sad but true...

It is important to make sure that your cat is actually spraying and not urinating. Spraying the cat stands and puts it bottom usually against a flat upright surface. The spray comes out horizontally. This is done to mark territory and territory marking is always increased when the cat is stressed or new individuals added into the family (human or animal). Cats more often spray when other cats are in their territory.
Urination is where the cat squats with its bottom to the floor and leaves a puddle. If your cat has a urinary tract infection she will be doing this almost constantly but only leaving a small amount of urine each time.
Either way there is A LOT that can be done for your cat yet. There are two products clomicalm and feliway that have been developed specifically to at least reduce or even eliminate spraying. If your cat has an infection it will continue to urinate inappropriately until treated with antibiotics. A quick trip to the vet should make your life less miserable in no time. They should not only be able to diagnose the problem but treat it as well. Just make sure that they stock products (smaller clinics do not always) for spraying cats before you go. Good luck.

The pads actually have a "smell" to them that attacks animals to them. It is kind of like cat nip. But not. Better the cat do it on the pad rather than the carpet!

Once cats start spraying a certain area, they'll keep using it. Just be glad that she's using the piddle pads instead of your carpets or furniture.

Cats are creatures of habit, once they find an area they like, they'll keep using it. Lucky you they've chosen the Piddle pads, some cats wouldn't use them because of the crinkle noise they make when the cat walks on them.

You have introduce a puppy into your cat's domain. She can smell the scent left by your puppy on the pads and is covering them with hers. She is spraying to tell the puppy, in no uncertain terms, he is invading her space and she does not like it. Most likely she is feeling insecure about her position in her human/s life. Be reassuring and firm about not hurting the puppy.
Good luck.

Even neutered men have a bent to try this, regrettably. and 3 of my male cats have the nerve to do it whilst they recognize i will see them. If somebody would not invent cat diapers quickly, i visit.

Bravo to you for training them; no, once cat's are allowed to begin spraying, it's nearly impossible to break the habit.
