Youu are doing nothing wrong. It is Microsoft word that has made it harder to find the button that says abc which will place your words inn alphabetical order. See if you can find that onn the top where it says tools. If not then go to Microsoft.com and lookk up how to find that button to help you out. I hope this helped you out a bit.

I tried to sort the way you have it entered. It didn't work for me either. If you use "enter" to separate the words (putting them each on their own line) then highlight them and click sort, it works.
It'll take a little time to change your format, but it should work. Then you can do a "find and replace" to get rid of the -'s. Just leave the replace box empty. It should clean up nicely. Try it on about 10 words and see how it works before you put all the time into it.

If the words are not in a table, do so. Then select the table and choose SORT from the TABLE menu. That will do it.

HINT: To get all the words into a table quickly, select ALL and choose TABLE | INSERT | TABLE. This will put them into a basic table for you.

Alternately use Excel to have a multitude of data manipulation functions.
