So you were willing to ASSUME he wasn't dangerous? Pretty foolish. Luckily the US Congress disagreed with you.

By the way, Iraqis were shooting REAL guns at American planes every day for month after month after month before the invasion.

Try facts.

The US uses fake tank kits that actually emit a fake engine heat signature. We call it deception. The Russians do it and call it maskirovka. There is a term for deploying deceptive measures in war in every army.

Yes Saddam did it too. The most common decoy deployed by the Iraqi military in '91 was modified fuel drums with wooden guns put into positions to try and replicate dug-in Infantry Fighting Vehicles.

If he didn't, eh should have. Here's a little history for you.

George S Patton, Jr, one of the most successful generals of WWII was used in several locations to mislead the Germans as to the exact location of the European invasion. He gave public speeches in England as the commanding general of the First US Army Group, which was entirely composed of plywood tanks, wooden artillery, and empty barracks. This final subterfuge mislead the Germans into thinking the attack would come at Calais. When the first reports of the Allied invasion fleet reached Berlin, Hitler refused to let Rommel move his forces, believing that this was a feint, and that the real attack would still be at Calais. WWII might have ended very differently if Hitler had listened to his best general.

Some things never change, military disinfomation, and national command authority ignoring the opinions of the military.

No, he didnt have wooden guns, but he didnt have armies of wooden tanks. These tanks are just the same size as real tanks, and they also have some sort of heat signature and radar reflective coating on them. They were actually extremely effective in the Gulf War because the American satelliets would fly over these wooden tanks, detect its heat signatures, and take pictures of them. The people looking at the pictures can't tell they are fake, so they think that these tanks were real tanks. The USAF and the USN ended up wasting a lot of bombs on these fake wooden tanks.

I know he had fake SCUD missile sites and fake tanks set up to try and fool us. It worked a little bit, but not too well during the Gulf War.
