kinda contradictory huh?
I see someone quoting a psalm above as proof that god can be in hell as per yur question BUT a psalm is absolutely NOT the word of god in any fashion. A psalm known to be a poem or song to god by a human. Humans can say whatever they think is real but it doesn't make it real.
This whole debate is worthwhile and completely fruitless at the same time. Those who don't believe the myth and those who live it with every fibre of their beings. I wish it was just a case of everyone being cool with everyone but that has never been true of humanity.

Yes He is. He knows exactly what goes on in Hell. But He is not there. Though Satan has dominion in hell, God has the power to cast Satan and sinners into hell and then after Judgement cast hell into the lake of fire. I'd say He is omnipresent. God is all power!
ETA: If hell did not exist then God would not have spoken of it in the Bible. Some people confuse hell with the lake of fire. Read the book of Revelation.

Yes, God is wherever his children are, God is not in hell but he knows where is it. and there is a script in the bible that says that once He went to hell to preach to those who werent there when Jesus was here, so they werent saved. Just think about this. That if you have somebody who loves you and you love them. how can you explain to somebody else that you love them, I mean this invisible link, that is how God is. You know He is there, but we cant see Him with our physical eyes, but feel his presence.

God knows what is going on in hell, but He does not "reside" there. He made hell!
There is no sin in God, therefore God does not dwell where there is sin.
But God SEES all at the same time. Which is what makes him ominiscient--because He is all Spirit, and knows the thoughts and intentions of the heart, of EVERY heart-- as Hebrews 4 says.
Nothing is "hidden" from God's sight. --See Hebrews 4.
-And He "lives" in those who are saved, he gave us His holy spirit, to reside IN us. Where as those who are NOT saved, do not have His holy spirit. But God still knows all- and sees all.
I hope that makes sense.
Oooh and what FC said below---I have heard of that before, we do not know what hell is truly like but that it is tormenting because of rejecting the Lord, and to live with that sin, knowing you have rejected Him is going to be the most tormenting. But it also says "the worm does not die and the fire is not quenched" which makes me believe it to be a state of actual pain.

God is omnipresent. Hell doesn't exist until Judgement day. Hell is not so much a place, it is life with out God (who is everything good).

No such thing as "in" for God.You are thinking from the human viewpoint.Reading Scripture you will see from the divine viewpoint there is no time-space continuum.

This is one of the many problems with a logically self contradicting definition of the term "God".

Nobody knows what hell is really like. It could be burning in the light of God's presence with unquenchable guilt.
