Nobody does, don't let them tell you otherwise. People project their own beliefs into the interpretation.

For example, most right wing fundamentalist christians in the US think Jesus is coming back for the USA to set his kingdom up there - that somehow the USA is where the new Jerusalem will be. The bible doesn't ever mention the USA.

All we can say is that Jesus will return at some future point, judge all men for their actions (Read the last few chapters of Matthew) and how they related to Him and their fellow men. The righteous will go to eternity with God, the unrighteous to eternal torment away from God.

We do not know, and cannot know the timeline.

Revelation will not be fully understood without first reading the first five books of the bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy. This is the foundation. Also very helpful is the Book of Daniel.

The 1st century readers would have already been familiar with this, so the symbolism in Revelation made perfect sense to them. It would make sense to us to except to many of us are bible-illiterate. Usually the first part of the bible we ever read is Revelation ( I was guilty of this as well) and then we're troubled over the imagery and symbolism.

I could labor to try to make a portion of the symbols make sense to you, but I would be doing you a disservice. The best way I can help you is to recommend you take the time to read the first five O.T. books.

I know it's not the quick and easy answer, but it's the best answer to your question, and a very important question as well. Jesus said that the reader will be blessed. You'll also find that much of the symbolism in revelation is explained in that very book. Several times John saw a vision and wondered about what he saw, then had it explained to him - some explanations came from an angel, others from Jesus Himself (Rev 1:20)

You won't be disappointed!

"God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

Revelation is the process, or act of making divine information known.

The author of the bible book of Revelation, John of Patmos or John the Apostle gives a short introduction for the first 10 chapters. Containing an account of the author, who identifies himself as John, and of two visions that he received on the isle of Patmos.

The first vision (chs. 1:11–3:22), related by "one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle", speaking with "a great voice, as of a trumpet", are statements addressed to the seven churches of Asia.

The second vision comprising the rest of the book (chs. 4–22) begins with "a door … opened in heaven" and describes the end of the current worldly system—involving the final rebellion by Satan at Armageddon, God's final defeat of Satan, and the restoration of peace to the world.

In our Congregation Book Study we are currently considering the book of Revelation on a verse by verse basis, using the Bible study aid called Revelation-Its Grand Climax at Hand.

You can obtain one for no charge from Jehovah's Witnesses. It is quite helpful.

Well, John was one of the early Christian leaders. He had a ministry from about 40 A.D. to about 80 A.D. The Roman Emperor Domitian exiled him to the island of Patmos. John wrote Revelation (under inspiration from the Holy Spirit) as a kind of "HA!" to Domitian. It is a farse on how Domitian set up his rule over Rome. Paul was saying "I've seen the throne of heaven, and Domitian isn't on it!" There are a lot of parallels. For example:
Domitian's throne was set up on a platform supported by statues of all 24 god of the Roman pantheon. (a farse of the 24 elders in heaven)
Domitian had everyone at his "olympic games" wear white (all the saints in white)
Domitian wrote letters (on sealed scrolls) to his sub-leaders that said things like "You do this and this and this, which I also do, and I have this for you. But I have this against you, and if you don't change I'm going to come and snuff you out"
Domitian's grandfather suffered a fatal head wound in battle and survived (where have I heard this before?)
I have a lot more information on this but am running out of room, so let me briefly sum it up:
The book of Revelation IS a prophecy book about the end of all things on earth, but it is also a history book about the diaspora (The dispersing of the believers in about 70 ad)
It is also another reminder that satan likes to counterfeit the things of God and make them more visible. It makes the truth of God harder to believe.

Well, I think the only thing that needs to be explained is the 7 churches. Some think they really were to those churches; others believe them to be time periods; while others still believe that the churches are different Christian sects. I think all three are true. Towards the end of the book, John gives a hint of where the harlot sits -- it's in southern Europe

I just do a little at a time without a need to know more.

InChapter 20- it seems like the satanic ones have been released form hell in the form of satanic music, glorification of drugs and self satisfaction.

The second death and lake of fire seems like the consciousness of those who will not change are dissolved into God's consciousness for purification. the"tormented day and night for ever and ever" maybe metaphoric. It's not consistent with God's creation as I know it.

I'm not exactly an expert, but what I gather is that after all the signs come to pass before the 6th seal, vile, and trump, anti-christ comes and fools just about everyone into thinking Jesus has returned and will rapture us all outta here. Then the 7th crap happens and we are all dead facing judgment where we get some time to realize how idiotic our existence was while we were alive. Then God destroys me I hope... Or I'll be forced to slap him.
