should we change the voting age to 21 then?

No they should keep it at 18. Some people join at 17 but have to get parental consent. They should not change it because 18 is considered an adult and if you make the decision to join then it's on you. Making it 21 will just make them wait even longer to join and who knows by the time some of the people get 21 they don't want to join. Keep it at 18!

no, i dont think it should. my husband is only 19 and he joined the military. I would NEVER have wanted anything else for us! We are far better off being where we are today than where we would have been before. Although people die when they go to iraq, the things they learn before they go are life changing. Not everyone dies and not everyone gets injured. my brother has been to iraq 3 times now and is headed back in december for his 4th and hes never so much as gotten a scratch on his back! I think that if you do what your supposed to you'll be fine.

No, theres not reason. Lots of 18 year olds want to use the military to go to college, this limits their ability to enlist people if this incentive isnt there right when they get out of high school. Why do you think it should be? Just be even more drunks in the military. Not that thats a bad thing ;-)

Absolutely not, I joined at 17 and was a Platoon Sergeant at 21,
I wasn't the youngest either. People are grown at 18 and should be self supporting.

No.

Mostly because what are people going to do from the time they graduate high school until they turn 21? I certainly wouldn't want to go to college for 3 years and then leave to go in the military.

No they should not change it because that gives everybody the opportunity to get the money they need for a college education. Plus, some people actually want to serve their country. Why should they have to wait till they're legal to drink!! That would be so dumb!!

no, 18 works out just fine. for some people, thats all they have to look forward to for a future and serving in the military should be a proud thing,

I would say no. But if we are going to change the age shouldn't we also look at the age someone is allowed to drink, go to prison, get married, or drive a car?

No, if they are old enough to vote, they are old enough to make the decision to join the military.
