Can I run windows home 32bit on an AMD Athlon 64 X2? Or does it have to be 64bit XP?

Ill upgrade later, but, can I use a 32bit XP on a 64bit processor?

Yes you can run regular Windows XP Home on it. The 64 bit is used a lot for servers. I'm running an AMD X2 on a 64 bit windows myself and I wished I hadn't gotten this OS as some programs are incompatible. Unless you have a lot of patience, stick with regular XP.
