I have a cat about a year old. I don't remeber my other cats doing this. But recently the 1 year old cat is nawing, and chewing on objects. Right now he is chewing on the corner of a coffee table. Is this normal? An how can I help my cat? Thanks.

I was just wondering. I never saw any of my cats do this. So it is normal. Because recently he has been chewing on anything. He is about a year old. He is neutered. When we got the cat we wern't sure of his age since he was outside. But has been a year. So just curious. Thanks for the info.

Sounds like he has a tooth problem take him to the vet and have them look at his teeth. Have you been taking care of his teeth? It isn't normal for a year old cat to teeth on the corner of your table.

Usually cats loose their baby teeth at 4-6 months old, so as you've had your cat for a year, he should have all his adult teeth by now.
You should take him to your vets for a dental check up as perhaps he has an infected tooth or a problem with his gums. At least if the vet can rule out a dental problem they should be able to diagnose if there is any other medical reason for him chewing your table.

Cats do teeth. All of the kittens I have had have done this. They always chewed on cardboard boxes when they were about to lose a tooth. I have found that it is normal.

My cat lost a tooth. You could feed it tinned food, but tinned food I find quite annoying to feed it and you'll never get them off it.
Try to get a cat food with dental protection if you can, to have a cat's teeth cleaned costs $200 NZ (about $110 American).
I hope your coffee table isn't too valuble! He/she/it should not be teething too long.

yes. they do teethe. have seen many cats' baby teeth. you may see it in their canines more. the adult teeth grow & push their milk teeth out, giving the cat the appearance of 1 - 4 extra fangs.

he might still be getting his teeth.i know they are born with them but not all of them.because at one he is still considered a kitten and they are untill he is two years old.i have many cats and a few of mine was like that and they were just teething.like a dog does.
