Some fish smell stronger than others. My dad taught me a trick to cut down on the fishiness, and that is to soak the fish in milk before you use it. Maybe that will help cut down the odor in your house.

The milk should cut down on the fishy smell and taste of the raw fish, but don't know if it will do anything about the normal smell of cooking fish.
I just keep an bowl beside wherever I'm cooking fish with a 1/4 cup or so of white vinegar in it, and that seems to neutralize a lot of the smell immediately.
Then I'm also sure to take the packaging outside to the garbage immediately, clean the pan I used, and also clean any areas where any spatters, etc., may have jumped out onto the cooktop or in the microwave, etc.
That takes care of the smell ... definitely don't like the lingering odor of fish in the kitchen when I come in for my morning coffee!

That is the reason fish has never been cooked in our house. We fry it outside or cook it on the grill. If you HAVE to cook it inside, turn the fan on above your stove and open a window with the ceiling fan going.

cook it on the grill if u have one unless your house is going to be smelling like fish.
what me and my husband do is we have a grill and when we go fishing we cook it up outside or on the side of the house so the smell dosn't travel through the house.
and thats mainly all you do.

What kind of fish you are cooking? Fish will not smell if it is cooked properly (not over cooked)

I open all my windows/doors to the front and back of my house so that the air can circulate. The fresher the fish, the less stinky.

For the most part, FRESH FISH SHOULD NOT SMELL! It's very important to buy the the most fresh fish you can find. I like to take fresh Salmon and marinate it in OJ, ginger, honey and soy sauce for 30min. I saute it in olive oil for 7 min each side.

Burn a candle. It doesn't need to be fragranced : it will absorb the smell of fish.
