I'm sorry. I know its hard to loose a pet. You have to move on and take real good care of the other two. Again, I'm so sorry this happened.

I'm so very sad to hear of your loss. I know it really, really hurts a lot to lose one of our animal friends. I know you are very sad and upset about this tragedy but just know that any time you love an animal - or a person for that matter, there is a risk that they may die and you won't be able to see them for awhile. All animals are little angel souls though so you must know where they will go when their adventure on earth is finished. I now this doesn't help much now because you are still having a heartache over what happened. But hurting about it is really OK, and a very normal thing to do. Cry all you want to. Believe it or not, the more time that passes, you will hurt a little less. For the past 5 or so years, I have and have had many, many birds. Some died, some flew off but I've had to deal with losing too many. It hurts just as bad whenever one dies but I do know that with time, I won't cry every time I think of the bird I loved so much and is no longer with me. Again, many people can share and understand why you've asked for support.

I feel your pain and have cried your tears. The sad truth of the matter is, if you live in an area with lots of wildlife, there is nothing you can do to protect your furry and feathered loved ones when they are outside. It's just one of those laws of nature, eat or be eaten. Being loved by a human can't protect you from that. Where we live, cayotes, fox and fishercats have annihilated the neighborhood cat population, and we had a little bichon dragged out of a small, well fenced area by something barely bigger than she was one evening. Truthfully, the only answer is indoor pets that only go outside when you do and stay on a leash. Unfortunately, you may need to prepare yourself that the bobcat may come back for the rest of your poor baby ducks. The only way to try to keep them a little safer is to close them up at night when the predators are really active.

Sadly, most pet duck or poultry keepers have had a loss like this. The key is to learn from the tragedy and correct the issues. You can't bring your little mate back, but you can learn from the experience and do whatever necessary to protect your other babies. Something similar happened to me a few months back with a turkey chick. I was angry with the fox that took him, and even angrier with myself. But instead of kicking myself over and over I had a look at my set up and did a lot of work to make sure the fox could never do the same thing again.

Aw. I'm so sorry I know how hard it is to loose a pet you love. My little first puppy slipped out of our yard and was hit by a car. I was sad for weeks. I thought I would never want another dog again. But my parents got me the puppies brother almost just like him. And even though he never replaced my first puppy, it was still nice to have that friendship again. And i will always love my first puppy. I am so glad that the bobcat did not take the other two. Its so sad about the little duckie but you will always remember what it was like. I know its hard to feel better, but i know what you are going through. Its nice to have someone to relate to. I hope the other duckies stay safe.

When I was a teen I also lost a baby duck.At first it angered me,still does if I dwell on it.Why because the little fella never stood a chance against my cousin. She strangled the little duck in our basement.I found her with the little fella in her hand limp, little body hanging like a doll. She claimed she was petting it.I was outraged as she was not supposed to be touching it.I learned to move on,accepting it's death knowing other ducks may come.It was a small yellow duck with a black spot on it's neck.Move on,maybe another duck will move in.get a german shepherd,or a sheep dog.Bye.

it's hard to lose your animals. especially to predation. be reasonably sue that your duck felt very little if anything. this is the chance you take when you keep something that must live out-doors. you'll hear folk telling you to "butch up & get over it", pay no heed. you'd be un-natural if you didn't grieve over the end of something you cared for. give it time & enjoy the ducks you have left.

They need to be shut in overnight, and they should still be with their mum really. This is something that happens to ALL poultry keepers at some point or another.
