I can't tell you all how cool it is to see so many people that love the Lord and doing what He calls us to do -- love the Lord your God, and love your neighbor. PrettyPickle, I'm in High School, and my youth leader has really stressed the importance of something called Justification. When we accept Jesus' cleansing sacrifice, we are justified, which doesn't only mean we're forgiven, but that everything we ever did wrong is completely erased! Some of the most beautiful couple of verses in the Bible are Romans 5:1-2: "Therefore, since we have been JUSTIFIED through faith, we have PEACE with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into His grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God." (NIV - emphasis mine)
I heard an analogy once of God's grace: Imagine that you're walking along a seashore, and you see a little hole dug by a crab, no bigger than a quarter. You continue walking and see a hole dug by a child, a fairly big one. After walking some more, you see a huge pit dug by a big machine. When the tide comes in, all holes are filled equally with the water. The same goes with His grace - no matter how big of a "hole" your sin has made, God fills it equally.
I hope this helps - I look forward to seeing you on the other side of the Pearly Gates!
Your friend in Christ,
Rachel

So you acknowledge you have sinned against God which is the first step! That is awesome--just by looking at His commandments we can ALL see we all fall short of His glory as Romans 3:23 says.
And we know the wages of sin is death- Romans 6:23, which is hell, ( the second death)
God sent Christ to die on the cross, to cover the sins of those who believe, so when we believe and repent of sin--confess our sins to Him, we are saved and sealed with His holy Spirit-- see Ephesians1 about how we are sealed with His Spirit-- It is His holy spirit that convicts us when we do wrong....and helps us and teaches us his truth as we study His word.
Without the word of God, however one can easily be led astray. That is why God tells us about the narrow and broad path mentioned in Matthew 7:13-14. The narrow is Jesus Christ and the broad path is the world and relegion.
The first guy who replied to this put excellent verses--please read them and really pray that the Lord will manifest Himself to you--and find a good bible teaching church, and fellowship with other believers- without that you will fall away, because the enemy is anxious to lead new believers away from the truth.

In reading your ?, the person that popped in my mind was Saul. A great persecutor of the Christan's, whom later on the road to Damascus...to capture and persecute more Christians, he came to believe. You might know him better as Paul...the writer of many books in the new testament. It sounds like you have already found God, and that you are on the right path to forgiveness. Have you accepted Jesus into your heart as your personal Savior? If you have, then my friend, you are already saved. Take your concerns to the cross, and lay them at the feet of Jesus. He will forgive you. He will never stop loving you. Ill pray for you, and hope that you continue your walk towards salvation.

The book of Luke chapter 15: 11-32 relates the illustration of the prodigal son. It tells of the younger son in a family, who obtains his inheritance from his father. This son leaves for a distant land, where he squanders all in debauchery, has to take up the work of herding swine (pigs), and is even reduced to hungering for the food of swine. He lived a life of a sinner! He finally comes to his senses and decides to return home, if only to work for his father as a hired laborer. As he nears home, his father takes the positive step of welcoming him, even giving the son a welcome party! The key point of the illustration is that It highlights an outstanding attribute of our merciful heavenly Father, his willingness to forgive on the basis of a sinner’s heartfelt repentance and conversion. Isaiah 55: 6,7 gives us these encouraging words: "Search for Jehovah, YOU people, while he may be found. Call to him while he proves to be near. Let the wicked man leave his way, and the harmful man his thoughts; and let him return to Jehovah, who will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for he will forgive in a large way."

You may find the thought in Philippians 3:13-14 encouraging:
"There is one thing about it: Forgetting the things behind and stretching forward to the things ahead, I am pursuing down toward the goal . . .:
Can't do anything about the past, but you can do something about the future.
OR
How about Isaiah 1:18-19
"Though the sins of YOU people should prove to be as scarlet, they will be made white just like snow; though they should be red like crimson cloth, they will become even like wool. If YOU people show willingness and do listen. . ."

I always liked Nehemiah 7:6-73, as follows:
6 These are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had taken captive (they returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town, 7 in company with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum and Baanah):
The list of the men of Israel:
8 the descendants of Parosh 2,172

54 Bazluth, Mehida, Harsha,
55 Barkos, Sisera, Temah,
56 Neziah and Hatipha
57 The descendants of the servants of Solomon:
the descendants of
Sotai, Sophereth, Perida,
58 Jaala, Darkon, Giddel,
59 Shephatiah, Hattil,
Pokereth-Hazzebaim and Amon
60 The temple servants and the descendants of the servants of Solomon 392
61 The following came up from the towns of Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Kerub, Addon and Immer, but they could not show that their families were descended from Israel:
62 the descendants of
Delaiah, Tobiah and Nekoda 642
63 And from among the priests:
the descendants of
Hobaiah, Hakkoz and Barzillai (a man who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by that name).
64 These searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean. 65 The governor, therefore, ordered them not to eat any of the most sacred food until there should be a priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim.
66 The whole company numbered 42,360, 67 besides their 7,337 menservants and maidservants; and they also had 245 men and women singers. 68 There were 736 horses, 245 mules, [b] 69 435 camels and 6,720 donkeys.
70 Some of the heads of the families contributed to the work. The governor gave to the treasury 1,000 drachmas [c] of gold, 50 bowls and 530 garments for priests. 71 Some of the heads of the families gave to the treasury for the work 20,000 drachmas [d] of gold and 2,200 minas [e] of silver. 72 The total given by the rest of the people was 20,000 drachmas of gold, 2,000 minas [f] of silver and 67 garments for priests.
73 The priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers and the temple servants, along with certain of the people and the rest of the Israelites, settled in their own towns.
It's a listing of a bunch of people who were alive at a particular time. What's the significance of this? Why did someone feel the necessity of including this laundry list in God's Holy Word?
God only knows.

Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, you people and let us set matters straight between us," says YHWH/God.
"Though the sins of you people should prove to be as scarlet, they will be made white just like snow; though they should be red like crimson cloth, they will become even like wool."
Proverbs 28:13 He that is covering over his transgressions will not succeed, but he that is confessing and leaving them will be shown mercy.
Malachi3:7b ..."Return to me and I will return to you," God has said.
After confessing your sins to God, the Lord's prayer is a good place to start learning priorities, Matthew 6:9-13, and always in Jesus name.
Best wishes....

Romans 10:9 says that if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you are saved.
I John 1:9 If we confess our sin He is faithful to forgive us of our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness
St John 3:17-God sent His son to save the world not to condemn us. Jesus wanted to save you even before you wanted to be saved. Take comfort in that and know that He is on your side.
Welcome to the family of God!!!!!

Well, welcome to the club. Go to Luke 15:11 and read about the prodigal son. The message here is that we all tend to stray and live it up, only to find the loss that the things of the world bring to our life. We only have to feel the genuine remorse and God is always there to welcome us back with open arms. You can do nothing but feel the sorrow. The rest is up to God. Wait in patience.
