Take her to the vet and have her strip-clipped. I do this with my cats several times a year. We used to have a "hairy" problem --BUT NO MORE!! The hair will grow back. Your cat will be very beautiful. And when you notice hair shedding again...that's when you'll know to go have kitty shaved again. You can choose how short you want it. We have ours shaved about 1/4 inch. Make sure you tell the vet you want the head, feet, and tail shaved too...or he'll leave the hair long on those parts. **The cat will look silly that way.**
GOOD LUCK!
GOOD QUESTION!

All white cats shed very badly;but only a few are able to keep up with it. Daily grooming from you and a by-weekly grooming at a respectable pet salon will cut your problem by about 85%.
Start by having the animal shaved, during the summer of course, then have the vet check the skin. If everything is fine, let it grow out, but remember to groom everyday to get the cat and the coat use to being groomed.
Proper grooming tools help too. The shed ender is the best for big fur problems like you have. It gets to the under coat where most of the shedding happens. It will be time consumming at first but once you tackle the big problem, from then on it will go quickly.
As for liking the cat, I wish you would of thought of this before you got the cat, but to late now. As a salon if they know any one who wants a cat, or put out an ad for the cat.

Hope this helps.

Man, I get so mad when I hear this. Every one wants a fluffy kitten but noone thinks about the consequences and now here you are saying I don't even like the cat. Please google cat rescue in your area and maybe they can find a good home for her. Cats shed that's what they do. Think twice before getting another one, just because it's another color, don't think it won's shed. I have a short hair gray cat and she sheds more than the maine coone long hair cat I have. I hope the cat finds a home and you find some peace. Don't feel guilty, find her a suitable home and move on.

The best thing to do is to keep your cat off your furniture so fur doesn't get on it. If that is your cat's favorite spot for the week, put a sheet over it, and take the sheet off when company comes over. Make sure you vacuum your furniture too. Luckily my cat doesn't really like to go on our furniture so you only get cat hair on you if you are on the floor or if you pick her up. It's good to brush the cat every day.

find the cat a home where it will be loved for what it is. if so small a thing as shedding fur can turn you against the cat, you don't deserve it. don't get any more pets. they all shed fur (just as you shed hair/skin) try buying yourself a hermetically sealed oxygen tent, that way, no free-floating traces of whatever will get on you.
you lack any trace of a heart or a soul & should be banned fom any form of contact with any other living thing.

I'll tell you what worked for me - switching to a good quality canned food.

It hasn't stopped shedding completely - nothing will - but it has cut down a lot.

Here's a list of good quality foods.
