greeneyes: And God didn't know Satan would rebel?

greeneyes: You also apparently agree with me that God's omniscience means we have no free will.

As far as I know of Biblical text, all the angels that rebelled were banished from Heaven. People can't rebelled in Heaven becasuse God already knew/knows who will rebel and who will not.

I don't think the Bible addresses this directly. However, it is clear that once you die, your future is unchangeable. There is also no mention of angels changing their minds.

I think that you get a chance to decide; at some point, it's set forever (on earth, we get a chance to change our minds). We humans are redeemed, but there is no mention of any redemption available for angels. I conclude that, since they were already in heaven and face-to-face with God, they got no second chance.

I do not believe that the good angels will (can?) now rebel. They had their chance to rebel and chose not to; thus their future is set.

I am speculating; like I said, I don't believe the Bible addresses this question directly.

Sin cannot be in the presence of God. If a person has died and went to heaven, God allows no sin. Jesus Christ's blood covers their sin and I do not think there will be a reason to sin once you have passed through this life. Life on earth is our first and only chance. Like the angels it is their first and only chance. Those who make it through will probably be exempt from sin and plus they won't have their flesh to battle with anymore but their spirit, which is given from God, so I don't see how they could sin if they have a spirit from God and have been transformed. Also, if they served the Lord and did go to heaven, then their desire is towards God and they wouldn't want to go against him. They had their chance of rebellion on earth.

I find this a valid argument.

Is there free will in heaven?

If no, then god would find no pleasure in us worshiping him for eternity.

So more likely the answer is yes.
The implications of this is that we can choose to sin in heaven.
Christians like to say that in heaven we will be put back in our perfect state as we were in the garden of eden.
But keep in mind that Adam and Eve sinned in that garden.

You can not have free will without the possibility of sin.

I think you would need to ask yourself why you would want rebellion.
Against what?
