I'm having exactly the same thing at the moment - I got taken into hospital last week because the pain was so bad - they hooked me up to a drip with morphine in it which helped - fed me loads of tablets and then sent me home, even tho i am peeing blood and apparently have a grumbling appendix - but they won't take mine out! Its annoying the hell out of me now - so if you find out what it is, let me know!!

Based on where you are describing it to be there is a pretty good chance that if you see a chiropractor to get aligned (it may take a few visits) and a massage therapist you will discover that it is actually referred pain from muscles.
Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas (natural muscle relaxers) daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.
Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.
The cure - start with a professional massage, (if this does not do it you probably need a chiropractor as well) you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).
For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

Is there any chance the pain is caused by ovulation? I had a long history of pain on one side, very severe; to the point where I had to lie down and pant as if in labour. It would last about 3 to 5 days sometimes. I would occasionally vomit too it was so severe. It went on for years, until I happened to have an ultrasound during an episode of pain which showed my right ovary was distended.
The doctor concluded that one ovary was probably hypersensitive to my own hormones and would start to get inflamed on day seven of my cycle rising to a peak of pain on days 12 to 14.
I don't know if this helps, but I DO know since the menopause I haven't had it at all. Is your pain following a cycle I wonder? Is it intermittent, and if you take pain relief, does it help?I know people say you are only ovulating for a few hours, true, but is it worth considering you may be super-sensitive to your own cycle?

Some people have suggested an ovarian cyst, which was my first thought but they are easily detected by a scan, which you've already had. I had an unidentified stomache pain and it turned out to be irritable bowel syndrome, but you don't have any of the symptoms. All I can say is that the hospital haven't tried every test so keep asking and don't let up until they find what is causing the pain. Good luck hope you get better soon

hi there
sonds very like an ovarian cyst and they can be hard to see sometimes. However do you have a coil fitted? I did and it perforated my uterus and fallopian tube and sounds very like your symptoms. Did not show up on the ultrasound at all but routine investigative surgery revealed a huge poisonous mass and i was seriuosly ill after that for a long time so if you havea coil ask to get it checked.
Good luck x

As the appendix has been removed and such pain is there, it seems something wrong like twisting of intestine near the appendix or something like cyst near that end which could not be identified or some wrong action by doctor while winding up the operation of removal of appendix. Please take other doctor's advice I mean other than that doctor who performed the operation of removal of appendix.

could this be something to do with your ovaries? Do you get the pain at regular times of the month? It might be when you are ovulating. Ask for a second opinion maybe with a gynaecologist.
