I've been home sick for the last 3 days with sinobronchitis. Last night I took cough syrup that makes me a little drowsy and I slept for about 2 and a half hours. the weird thing is, is that during the 2 1/2 hours I heard everything that was going on. My parents talking and all. My body wasn't moving and I would have the occasional dream, but still wasn't in a REM level of sleep. Do you think this is what it's like when someones in a coma? also, my dad came in to check on me and asked if i was hungry, i said "huh uh" (no) but didn't wake up or move. i know that someone in a coma can't talk, but i just thought it was weird that i could still hear and answer, but my body was asleep. so do you think this is what it would be like?

I didn't take Robatussin and I didn't overdose. I took 1tsp of a cough syrup with, ...hydrocodone.

Sounds like you were in the early stage of "beta" wave sleep. It is during this time that your body is beginning to relax, and while you are somewhat acutely aware of your surroundings, a chemical in your brain has paralyzed you somewhat in order to prep you for deep sleep. And once you hit "gamma" wave sleep, you wouldn't be aware of your surroundings. You were sort of in a "suspended animation" type feeling. I know how that feels, and until recently I didn't know what it was, but we covered it in Psychology class. I don't know if it is comparable to a coma. Hopefully none of us will ever have to go through that!

I bet you took Robitussin.

We call that Robatrippin. It is freaky and I suggest you not use that med again.
