I've been to America and most people are friendly and polite. But, on here, they mock the rest of the world.
America wasn't the only nation that defeated the Germans in both world wars.
They didn't kick 'England's' ***. It was Britain that lost, and considering they controlled 1/4 of the planet and only really suffered in the last year or so, it wasn't that bad.
Who won the war of 1812 is still disputed.
America lost in Vietnam and Somalia. If they don't learn from the British, they will lose in Iraq.
Britain and America have enemies that wish to erradicate them all and need to work together.

I'm American and I'm not nasty to the rest of the world! I'm not denying that there aren't any Americans with a superiority complex on here, but we're not all that way.

It really depends on which board you go on- you can pretty much guarantee that questions on the Military and Politics boards are going to result in pissing contests about wars. But if you go on Entertainment or some of the others, there isn't that animosity.

EDIT: After reading through some of these posts on the UK Politics board, it looks to me like its the other way around! There's a degrading question about the US for every non-confrontational question!

I don't think it's nastiness as much as defensiveness. We feel like the whole world hates us, especially since 9/11. We are potrayed as being ignorant, stupid bullies who spread war, poverty, and misery around the world. But most Americans don't understand why everyone thinks this. We may not be the most classy people on the planet. We may get involved in everyone else's conflicts or start our own. But we are people like everyone else and feel the dislike the world has for us. If you were in a similar position, you would do the same.

Americans (some of) seem to think that they are better than anyone else by birthright, and think that as such they have more rights than everyone else." you can't do or say that to me I'm an American!" heard that before??. but all countries and cultures have the same elements of the Superiority complex, so i guess they're not alone in it. nobody is perfect.
