Sorry to say but if you only bring that amount of money with you...even if that's a daily allowance, you will not be allowed in the country...to gain entry to the UK you have to prove that you have a return ticket and that you have enough money to support yourself while you are here...and £26 a day isn't going to cut it...

Not much dude. Although the GBP is worth more than a USD, you can pretty much transfer the prices in England one to one with US for food, hotel, and entertainment. So if you pay 3 USD for big mac here you pay 3 GBP for big mac there. Europe is expensive and it doesn't help when the USD is getting weaker and weaker in the world.

I hate to tell you this, but not very much. Beware that US credit card companies charge 1% for the currency change and that if you try to use your US debit card to pull cash, you might get charged a fee as well. If you can very frugally, buy some bread, jam and peanut butter at a big chain grocery store and that could really cut your food expenses. if you really can limit yourself and maybe have a person to stay with, maybe it could last a few days. Everything just depends on your lifestyle and situation. I lived in London so I know that it can be very expensive, so take into account transportation and if you will need to pay for lodging.

very very little. not even five packs of cigarettes, less than two bottles of smirnoff vodka, less than four day-travelcards for the london transport system (buses, tubes and mainline trains). london is expensive! I'm a student, and my weekly student rent at the moment is over £70, so for accommodation where someone else will have to clean for you etc, and still make a profit, I'd imagine you'd be looking at that or more.
