why dont parents make sure they are experts on drugs? as it surrounds kids and teenagers.
As many look stupid ans clueless.
its the same as if you wnet to austrialia and did not look up all the dodgy wild life.
ie let kids crawl under houses, play in banana fields, paddle in the sea in the north or feed the ducks there, fishing on the banks of the rivers

The links should help...
Drugscope is best for data, Lifeline does the best teenager targeted panflets and stuff for parents too.
Tallk to frank the best adverts but becasreful as their litterature has dangerous holes like not telling kids never to have lots to drink on E which can be horribly lethal

Kid can say look fkhad I dont want the fk off head aches u got a problem with that?
Or just pot joint in mouth and caugh and act like others.
Also can get e testing kits and monito water usage and body temp on E.

There is too much black and white thinking going on nowadays. Either something is totally wrong or totally right. Completely bad or very good. Parents are relying too much on this type of information being told about drugs to know what the truths are. The truth is that pot is not crack. And crack is not ketamin. To learn these differences may actually cause these parents to have to think for themselves and to learn the varying degrees of the drugs and the different types of addicts there are.
I know that my son, at 12, knows more about drugs then most adults out there. He has had to, his father was an addict and I never lied to my son about it. He also understands that cigarettes are more addictive then heroin and that pot can't kill you, but alcohol kills people everyday. I have not given him permission to smoke a joint, but I gave him the knowledge and truth to be able to make an educated decision when the time does come.

i worry about how much some parents know about drugs but not because they aren't experts. they are experts but for all the wrong reasons. i know a lot of parents ( which really scares me ) who take coke. most of them in their thirties with good jobs and nice houses. some i even call friends.
they are completely clueless!
its OK though cause it's not addictive they can stop whenever they like!! at least that's what they keep telling me as the head for the toilet!
the seem to forget that whilst it not physically addictive it is mentally and socially addictive. oh yeah and then there is the damage to their noses, the increased risk of strokes/heart attacks etc etc
my daughter is only 3 but she'll know everything there is to know about drugs and hopefully I'll do a good enough job of bringing her up so that if the time comes to make a choice she'll make the right one.

So many parents these days barely make sure they're adequately educated on the basics. How can we suppose they'd be interested enough in their kids' well being to become experts on anything other than letting their kids "cry it out" (every parent seems to be an automatic expert on *that*), let alone something as serious and difficult to talk about as drugs?
I talk to my kids about drugs, but I'm no expert. I talk to them about almost everything, though-- sex, smoking, drinking, divorce, cancer, death, abortion, war, peace, healthy eating, etc.
All I can do is share information with them, try to impart my morals and values to them, and hope that some of it sticks when the time comes for them to make a choice.
Thanks for the URLs.

I suppose some of them just dont realise the dangers, they probably still live in a bubble and ignore the serious stuff.
Ive always wondered why too.
With all this internet access and free libraries (uk) theres no excuse. However, a parent can do everything possible to prevent their teens using drugs, but teens nowadays are like miniature adults and will do what they want! Sign of the times!

Most parents are.. it's just you don't listen because you don't want to hear the truth. Believe me most parents today grew up in the drug era and probably have expierenced more drugs then you ever heard of 1st hand. Kids today don't look for the right answer they look for opinions that agree with their own. When you grow up you will see and regret your own ignorance. Hopefully it won't be too late and you are in some drug rehab trying to become an adult.

Personally my daughter is only 20 months old but we've already decided that the plan is to tell her the truth...and the whole truth. Neither of us are free of mistakes and we've both learned much from the ones we've made. I think it's the duty of parents to educate their children on the mistakes they've made in the past so that they don't have to relive them. We don't feel that "Because it's bad" or "because only bad people do it" are good things to tell your children to prevent them from doing things. Kids will always want to try "bad" things...it's just their way. But they need to be told that the level of "bad" is far different in certain situations. And some things you just don't gamble with.

you could no longer ask a question and then tell people to go away out the detrimental solutions. it is carefully defeating the purpose of asking a question to get evaluations. you could to boot have in simple terms stated "whats up: consider me." that asserts plenty relating to the in all probability overwhelming helpful content fabric of your analyze paper. Too undesirable dude. it particularly is unlawful. i do no longer care which you be attentive to that. What makes you so particular which you will in simple terms ignore rules as you spot extra healthful? What makes you extra perfect than a individual smashing in motor vehicle residing house windows with a bat? particular, destroying materials is prohibited, yet whats up, they be attentive to that already; they be attentive to the risks. Why could that stop them if it particularly is what they pick to do? it particularly is an idiotic thank you to think of. Your grades say no longer something approximately your adulthood and why you could have the potential to proceed smoking even with your mothers and dads' disapproval. somewhat, your rebellious mindset and the certainty which you nonetheless stay along with your mothers and dads, yet can't be stricken to maintain on with their rules says plenty extra approximately you. strengthen up. in case you pick to do what you pick without parental effects, pass out. and stop soliciting for evaluations and telling people to bypass over the detrimental.

I agree. And parents should be straight with their kids once they do learn. They should tell them that heroin is worse than pot. And they should learn from several resources, not just government propaganda.

i can see your point but kids are going to take drugs if they want no matter what, so if you know your kids might be and you know exactly what they are doing to their bodies would it make you worry more?????? just a thought.
