I know what the difference is but people always seem to talk about lust in a bad sense, as in not as good as love. Do you think thats just because love lasts longer?

Sure.. Love is when you significantly care for somebody and look out for them in a devoted manner. Lust is when you just want to stick it in her. So while one man can love a woman and do anything for her without expecting anything in return, another who simply lusts for her doesn't care about her in any manner other than a sex toy. Let's look at some examples...

Love: offers her compliments, holds the door open for her, helps her with her 14 page paper, writes her notes telling her how he feels about her, generally tries to make her life better

Lust: sticks it in her, waits for her to fall asleep and cops a feel, does not look above the neckline, says "I love you baby, now lets do it!" when you don't feel like sex at the time, holds the door open for you then slaps you on the butt when you walk through, wakes up earlier than you and leaves before breakfast, sleeps with you sister/mother/roommate in your bed, steals panties, keeps pawing at you when you're not in the mood, calls you *****

lust is something you feel at the moment but then of course it gets old and you look for more lust. But lust can turn into love over time. But yes, love definitively lasts longer because its actually a true feeling unlike lust which is a feeling of being envious of something you desire.

love and lust are just two very different things. Lust isn't a bad thing it's just more of an infatuation with that person. Love is love and sometimes love doesn't last forever either.

Per my parents - Lust is bad because it evokes the age-old "sex out-side of marriage is bad" and lust brings up the idea of wanting someone for just sex. Love is all butterflies and roses with desire (not lust-bad word) flowing happily all over the place.

Personally - I LUST after my husband on an hourly basis. I would LOVE to get him naked and alone.

You could have both! The man I'm in love with for 3 years now & I still lust over him!

love doesn't always lasts longer...
lust can bring you a depression when the other person get's bored and starts avoiding you...
but love also...
i think it's because when someone thinks of love it's the spring and flowers and kisses and red hearts thing...
lust is more related to drugs...(to be drugged for a person...that sounds weird...)

Lust is a pure animal instinct - there is nothing wrong with it and it exists even in a loving relationship.

You are correct, lust does have a bad name. Just use something else. No one condemns someone for saying "I long for his (her) body. That is a normal human thing. It is not everything but it is not nothing either.
