Dear all, I have been taking for about three months, anti-anxiety pills called PAXXET 20mgs. I was unable to buy a new pack and for over a week I havr not been taking them. At the beginning I was feeling ok, but for the past 2 days I have been feeling dizzy, numbness in my hands and my face as though I dont feel them out of the blue. I also feel my heart is not beating regularly; I feel it "stops" or pounds slower at times and pounds much faster at others which causes a feeling of being short of breath. Can stopping taking this medicine the way I did cause these symptoms?

Yes. I had similar symptoms when I came off Zoloft to quickly. Unless you can get your hands on some more of your meds, you will just have to ride it out. I think it lasted about a month for me, it was really bad for a week then slowly lightened up until it was gone.
I did read on a forum somewhere that taking Benedryl can help with those symptoms. I didn't try it because Benedryl makes me loopy, but it may be worth a shot.

Stopping this medication most certainly can cause these symptoms. as with most anti anxiety pills once your body has become used to the medication it depends on it to function regulary. When you discontinue use the symptoms you feel are withdrawls from the medication. It is important that you begin taking the medication ASAP. the pharmacy should be able to get you at least a few pills, if not contact your Dr. Hope that helps.

Yes it can.

Go to your doc or call her/him, explain you can't afford a new pack due to whatever financial reason. Chances are they have samples that they can give you until you can find more.
