The funny thing about Jesus is that he never condemned a sinner. The only people that Jesus condemned were the religious people of the day, the Pharisees and Saducees. Jesus showed love to those "sinners" that the religious people would have nothing to do with. I can't stand it when I hear about Christians who are constantly telling people they are going to hell and that God hates homosexuals and that sort of thing. Jesus told us to love our enemies and pray for those that persecute you. I fail to see how some Christians can fit hatred and condemnation into those statements. If Christians would really live how Jesus lived and taught, then I don't think that anyone would have a problem with a group of people that constantly was on the look out for ways that they could help others, and show love to the people that they came in contact with.

Firstly, not all Christians can be lumped into that category. About a year ago I would have done the same thing, however after talking to a lot of Christians over this past year I have come to realize that not all Christians think can be lumped into that category. There are a lot of Christians, myself now included, that truly try to follow Christs examples, by preaching love and kindness.
Secondly, Acts 10:9 - 15 answers your question about eating animals. If you are unaware of the situation, here is what has happened: Peter is praying when he realizes he is hungry, in his prayer he see Heaven open up and a large blanket desecends to the Earth by its cour corners, upon the sheet are all of kinds of animals.
"Then a voice told him, 'Get Up, Peter. Kill and eat.'
'Surely not, Lord!" Ptere Replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean." The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impures that God has made clean." Acts 10:13-15.
Thirdly, you do not need to apologioze. You are right! Jesus spent much of his time teaching us to love our neighbors and to be good people. Unfortunately in todays society too many people believe what they are told to believe instead of looking for the answers themselves. If more people Christians were to read and unedrstand the Bible I believe the world would be a much more peaceful place.
Finally, to answer your main question, I think that a large sect of people that call themselves christians are hypocritical because they do not have a firm understanding of the Bible. They lack the interest to read and discover the truth about Jesus's teachings. Instead they show up to Church on Sunday and take in everything the Church says because it is the easier method of being a Christian.

It is true that some Christians can be hypocrites by looking at the sin of others and condemning it while ignoring their own sin. However as a Christian, I am to hate sin as God hates sin. Sin in whatever form it takes should never be condoned by a believer. It is to be opposed and rejected. Now that does not mean believers attack the person who sins. Attacking them drives them far away from the gospel. What instead should happen is a loving confrontation with the intent of helping the sinner see his/her sin and to turn from it to everlasting life.
In answer to your statement about killing animals, God has given us all things to be enjoyed with thanksgiving. (Genesis 9:2-3, I Timothy 4:3) The animals provide food for us when we need it.
Also the concept of just going to church gets you saved does not work in God's Word. The way of salvation comes through Christ alone. (Romans 3:23, 5:8, 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9)
I hope this helps!!

Same reason that people are hypocrites in other walks of life. It's easier to think and talk about an ideal that we want to measure up to, than it is to actually live it.
Forgiveness doesn't mean tolerating wrong and sin either. It's not a belief that anything goes. If you are offended by the perversity of homosexuality, then you better speak up. More evil deeds are committed when good men are silent. It is a greater wrong to say or do nothing in the face of evil.
Thou shalt not kill really doesn't have anything to to with bugs. If that were true then let's do away with antibiotics. Think a little more deeply.

Let me start by saying that I am not a practicing Christian. I do however believe I know the answer to your question. You seem to think that being a Christian is supposed to make someone be, or act perfect. Quite the contrary! While the goals of most Christians are to be as "Christ Like" as possible, they make mistakes, commit sins, etc.. just like the rest of us. The only difference is they ask for forgiveness, and believe that through doing so they "cleanse" their bodies of these sins. So even though to you it may appear as though their not practicing what they're preaching so to speak, take a moment to realize just what it is that they're preaching. They have never claimed to be perfect, or above being hypocritical... they simply strive to be. Hope this helps!

Because a lot of Christians take the Bible literally. And a lot of Christians believe that what they believe in is the one true thing because thats what the Bible says. Everyone knows if you can't except all people, like Jesus would have, no matter what their background then your ignorant. I have no problem accepting any religion, including Christianity, except when people are very persistent about preaching or converting or destroying other cultures by 'spreading their faith'. (Which a lot of Christians do) I'm a strong believer of keeping your spiritual life to yourself.
It's also funny when their faith gets in the way of logic. The whole thing with the HPV vaccination and how some extreme Christian people are against it because it promotes sex. I'm pretty sure its a parental issue of your kid is going to have sex or not...best they don't have cancer however...
Theres a really good book out about the real teachings of Jesus and if people followed them they'd be really bad on todays terms of whats right and wrong. Christianity's history is kind of a controversial one...look at the crusades, missionaries...plus they stole some of the traditional pagan holidays...now known as Christmas, Easter, and adapted them so it would appeal to people who wanted to be able to celebrate their old beliefs and still believe in Christianity so they wouldn't be put to death...

Yes you are so right. Most Christians do not practice what they preach. They want the christian label to ensure themselves that they won't go to hell and that is about all. The rest of the time they think that as long as they believe in Jesus they are OK and saved. They can live however they like, ask for forgiveness on Sunday and still go to heaven.

Your question is wrong on so many levels that it is nearly impossible to answer.... but I'll try, paragraph by paragraph.
I don't know many Christians who are as accusatory as you say. Especially when it comes to "thinking for yourself" In fact, God, in the Bible, tells us to be free thinkers and to study.
I don't know of any Christians who claim that if you don't go to church you will go to hell. Not believing in Christ will send you to hell, but church attendance has never been a requirement for salvation
Eating meat is given to us by God in the book of Genesis. Read the book before making obviously inaccurate statements. Your question on this point is simply laughable.
As a Christian it is not my place to be against anyone, homosexual or straight or whatever. Part of being the example of Christ is hating the sin not the sinner. The actions of homosexuals are what God hates. As His example on earth I hate those actions too. I don't hate homosexuals, just as I do not hate murderers or liars etc.... I hate their actions.
You imply that Christians are hypocrites, but your examples are inaccurate therefore I can only assume that you have no clue what the Biblical standard for a Christian is. If you don't understand the standard, you really can't say that someone is a hypocrite.
I'll pray for you.

There are those words "most" and "always" again. Just because one person says something doesn't mean everyone agrees with them.
Your also fishing with the bit about killing. Your very aware that is about killing humans.
And by the way, if you haven't sat in a church why are stating what Christians preach. I don't know anyone who says to have to go to church to stay out of hell.

I don't consider myself a hypocrite.
I haven't accused anyone of anything.
I don't preach "Church". I do preach Jesus and I go to church because I love Jesus but being in church doesn't make you a Christian any more than being in a garage makes you a car.
I think maybe if all the Christians you know are hypocrites, then maybe you need to find some Christians that aren't like that.
