i have a koi swimming up a waterfall with lotus flowers and am in the process of getting a sea turtle tattooed at the bottom. when it is done it will cover my whole back. there is really no "hidden" meaning to it but it does represent the struggle of life, wisdom and beauty.

In the process of Five Koi - 1 gold 'king' koi, 3 orange & black, one black - swimming up the Dragon Gate. The gold koi is making the leap up the falls and in mid-transform into a dragon. The artist has done a great job mixing characteristics of the koi & dragon, much better imho than the art I've found. I use the more classic shaded water rather than blue.
It's not done yet, with three koi & < 10% of the koi-dragon, plus landscape, lotus & other flora remaining. Technically only covers the upper 2/3rds of my back, but flows onto my left arm. Once done I'm likely to extend some water torrents and/or landscape onto the right arm, and perhaps clouds/mist on the left. I have no idea if I'll extend it down the back; no thoughts on what I'd do at this point.
Any meaning is best found within, grasshopper...

I have a large lion that wraps around my waist. Its kinda like a large lion belt. I got it because my zodiac sign is Leo and I feel very close to my zodiac sign - always have. I am the typical leo woman, and what better way to show it than getting a Leo belt!
I also have a largish tattoo on my back that is in the process of being expanded. it is of the illuminati diamond, from Dan brown's Angels and Demons. The italian side of my family can trace their heritage to the actual Illuminati. I have my italian pride tattoo, but the Illuminati meant alot more to me when I actually left the Roman Catholic Church for good. The expansion is going to be an ankh, representing my new religion, kemetic orthodox, and my kemetic name is heiroglyphs.

I have the cat Goddess Baste on my foot with the Eye of Horus on its flank. It represents my dicotomy. Baste was the Goddess on music, mothering, and art. Horus is a God of war and power. A celtic knot bank on my leg means peace, tranquility, serenity, and eternity. I am Scottish. I also have the family clan motto and crest. I have the Taoist character for friendship on my back which I got with my best friend. Between Taoism and my friends, I am alive today. I am getting the Taoist character for Donkey soon. That represents the path to heaven and how is doesn't matter what your "donkey's" name is or what type of journey it is, whether you enjoy the journey or not, but that you get to the top of the mountain with your donkey. It is a very open, acception view of religion.
