Not really. Why did they make it then? So you can download Music, Videos, Pictures, Documents and Programs aswell. They are also making new versions of limewire so it shouldn't be illegal. If you can get done for that all i have to say is who ever made a law against that I hope that they know that i will kill them.

The program itself is perfectly legal because it's peer-to-peer sharing: for example, if someone writes a song and has it on their computer or wants to share their pictures, they can be shared through limewire legally. However, there's no way to distinguish between original music files and copyrighted ones, so that's how people download popular music that they normally have to pay for. There's no way to track it, so the only way to get caught is to bring your computer in to get fixed or something and if the person sees it and sees that you've downloaded copyrighted stuff, they're required by law to report it and you get fined like $1,000 or something.

No.
Limewire is a peer to peer sharing community program.
to make it easier to understand, it means that it is simply people sending you songs from their computer to yours.
i take it you have sent songs over msn messenger before?
well its exactly the same, but instead of it taking ages and only coming from one computer, it comes from many computers, allowing you to get that song quicker.
I use both limewire for single songs and BitComet for full albums.
One thing I will say though is that unless your computer has a good and up to date antivirus system E.g. Norton Internet Security 2007, then your computer will be at risk from viruses.
I hope that helped

the program itself is within the law but the items ppl upload and download is where it becomes illegal.
its all music and software piracy.

Anyone who says LimeWire is illegal isn't thinking about what they're saying. The truth is, LimeWire, the system, isn't illegal, but the usage you are talking about, known as Warez, is illegal as it is sharing copyrighted files without prior permission of the publisher.

The program limewire is legal but it depends on what you do with the program that makes it illegal. Chances of being caught and fined are extremely low but it's kind of risky.

it truly is unlawful, yet thousands of thousands of people have it, you've a a million in a pair milloin threat of having stuck, i personly do not use it besides the undeniable fact that it truly is how you'll get loose music, in case you do not favor to get stuck then only turn off sharing contained in the options menu in limewire, that way no you'll recieve music you've, therefor they can't get you busted

Ii is illegal because you can download brand new songs 100% free and if caught you could be fined. Howverver so many people use it because they feel they won't be caught as it is so popular. It;s a risky business!
