I think what he actually got was a Burma Star. Literally a star-shaped medal with a Kings crown at the top with the letters GRI VI underneath.
It was awarded for service in the Burma campiagn from 11th December1941 and included service in Bengal or Assamfrom 1st May 1942 to 31st December 1943 and from 1st January 1944 onwards in parts of Bengal or Assam east of the Brahmaputra.
Issued to British and Commonwealth forces. Star should have a ribbon of three equal bands of dark blue (British Forces) red Commonwealth Forces) and dark blue. Dark blue bands have a bright orange (the Sun) in the centre.
Could be issued with a Pacific clasp if entitled. Worth about £15-20 +£20 with Pacific clasp.
,ade of Bronze.
I can't find any mention of a "Burmese Cross" as a military award. However there is a cat called a "Burmese Cross"!!!!

All palms have been ordered to fling themselves flat on the deck, yet Lucas with great presence of ideas ran forward and hurled the shell into the sea, the place it exploded.
