How many different types of sage are out there?

What would be a good mantra or chant to clense/ purify a household?positive energy please...... burn white sage right?

um. Hundreds of types of sage. Probably more types than we have names for- in two families.

To answer the non-science question, in traditional CM, to cleanse a place, you'd use asafoetida, which smells awful- to drive any negative energy out.

I prefer to use a huge quantity of labdanum resin. It has the same effects as asafoetida in large amounts (burns the eyes, etc) but when it diffuses, it leaves behind a very pleasant smell.
