In windows 98 they were stored in the control panel. In windows XP SP2 they are not listed there.

In Add/Remove Programs you need to click the "Show Updates" option.

Some do show in the Add/Remove as Hot Fixes. Other if you have the "Show Updates" checked.

Other can be seen if you go into the Windows (or Winnt) directory and set it to show hidden and system folders. The uninstall for of the updates is listed there as a file that starts with "$Uninstall...."

Sure they are. Under add/remove programs they show up as hot fixes, down at the bottom of the list.
