For my dog, Wellness Simple Solutions Venison formula is the best food I have been able to find that doesn't interfere with her allergies (to all things poultry and beef). Even though she's allergic to it, I occassionally add a little bit of EVO red meat b/c she loves it so much, only a 1/4 cup or so. She gets about 5 cups a day, so 1/4 cup mixed in with all that doesn't seem to bother her allergies. Her teeth are bright white, she no longer has the dandruff problems she used to, her fur is thick (since her allergies are under control it isn't falling out anymore), and her poops are small and hard.

THe Whole Dog Journal came out with a list of the top 100 foods
copy found here http://www.villagepawsandclaws.com/WDJ_Feb2007.pdf
this is a good place to learn about foods
http://www.dogfoodproject.com/
I prefer a food that is high in meat protiens and low to no grains which is closer to their natural diet
I feed Innova Evo redmeat formula to my 4 dogs ranging in age from 1 year to 9 years old

You might want to check The Whole Dog Journal's web site. They do a yearly analysis of dog foods and list what they believe are the best. The best for each dog will vary according to that dog's needs and digestive system. You do have to pay for the report, but it's not expensive so it's worth it.
I personally feed Innova Senior but will be switching soon as my dog seems to have lost her taste for it.

Innova, California Natural, Fromms, Canidae, Orijen and so on..
I feed all of my dogs Innova EVO, it's a raw kibble diet made with no grains. They all go crazy at feeding time. =) They have shiny coats, non-smelly breath, small non-smelly stools, clean teeth and lots of energy. I swear by it.
You can always read the ingredients, the first ingredient should ALWAYS be meat, but it should also be followed by another meat meal product, (They have to remove all water in order to make a dry kibble) and the source of meat shouldn't have by-product after it. It should also be a named meat product. (Eg. Lamb Meal, not Meat Meal, that could be anything.)
www.dogfoodanalysis.com is an awesome website that can help you pick out the best foods for your dog.

canidae is a great food (i feed my dogs that) but it is not by any means the best. the best food depends on what do as well. innova and timberwolf organics would be m two two choices. they are more expensive, which is why i go with canidae instead.
if you go to the site i listed you can search dog food brands and see what is good and bad about these, it will help you decide what is best for your dog. and most brands have a website you can go to, and search with a store locator to see if they have it near you.

Science Diet, Iams, and Nutro all make very good foods. If you are thinking of switching your dogs diet, do so slowly, or the dog may experience some gastric problems. There are generally guidelines printed on the bag. I feed my dogs Nutro's Natural Choice, which has no preservatives or by products.

There are many kinds and companies that make dog food..but the top two best dog foods are "lamb and rice" by either a company called "IAMS" or "lamg and rice" by "Nutrichoice" ..stay away from any thing by Dr.Ballard..or PuppyChow..these are food with very fatty content..I have allways had dogs and if you find that "Iams" brand gives you dog gas..then switch to "Nutrichoice" or the other way around..my dogs are never sick they have beautifull fur...and healthy looking eyes and their breath never stinks..and all they eat is the best...

Purina has been around for over 100 years. It's all we feed our dogs. Some of the expensive brands have too much fat and big price tags. Stick with a proven product from puppy to adult.

I would most definitly say bakers complete because it has all of the nutrients and vitamins your dog needs. It is also very tasty for dogs, I have not yet seen a dog turn it down.
