Knowing that you are being ignorant & still not trying to know the truth even though it could be important for you is the part which is wrong.

Since you have posted this question in the religion section, then you are aware that there are those who believe in higher things than yourself. Your use of English and proper grammar suggests that you were raised or at least schooled in the ways of English speaking countries such as UK, US, Canada, Australia, etc. I suspect, therefore that you are familiar with Judeo-Christian based religions or at least have heard something about them and their beliefs regarding the afterlife and heaven and hell.
That being said, consider this: If there exists a possibility that such a fate may await you, isn't it in your best interest to investigate more deeply?
If you choose to follow the teachings of Christ and you die to find out the you are wrong, will you have been any worse off having treated your fellow man with love and kindness?
On the other hand if you choose not to follow Christ and you die to find out the wrong, where will you be then?
I do not say that you should follow Christ "just in case", but I do submit that considering the possible consequences, not knowing is not okay.

Choosing to be ignorant can lead to suffering, both on the part of the person who's doing so and to others by way of any harm caused, especially when you use an incorrect idea or view to push it on others, or something like that.

Good question. We'll have to be okay with some of that, or else we won't be okay.
