christians!...how do you explain the fact that there is not one, NOT ONE contemporaneous account of your lord and savior recorded by ANY known writer of that time which history tells us is many, many prominent men like pliny the elder, tacitus, josephus (his mentioning jesus in one of his texts has been proven to be an interpolation, so dont even try it) who wrote extensively about minor events and persons. how could they not know about this rock star going around the ancient world performing one miracle after another and raising people from the dead with the multitudes following everywhere he went? surely, this would have gotten some notice dont you think?...me thinks you have all been the victims of a cruel hoax. wake up and smell the frankincense!...

More telling, as I mentioned earlier, is that he doesn't appear in Augustus' writings.

If they'd crucified three people (Romans did it in enormous groups, hundreds, or in ones, and for things like sedition, not thievery) it would've been reported to Rome. Especially if the guy had had a crowd of 50,000.

Augustus was PROLIFIC, especially later in life.

Edit: and as for the guy who thinks there was more written by Jesus' contemporaries than about Augustus, WOW! Are you wrong. I would suggest a book called "the power of Images in the Age of Augustus" for more info. We have coins, books, statues, poems, plays, engravings, monuments and structures he decreed be built that are still there. We have gobs of stuff on tons of Romans, and tons of people killed by Romans, but Jesus is missing.

The Bible is considered historical evidence by Christian and non-Christian scholars alike. There are many accounts in the Bible, written by different people about Jesus. This is historical evidence.

It goes on and on...but my main point is...when you look at the Bible, it also mentions other events and people and when matched up against historical events and people...all ring true. The information in the Bible is backed up by history over and over. Therefore, there is no reason to believe that everything else is historical except all the stories about Jesus. That's really stretching it.

It's impossible for us, with our understanding of what was going on at the time, to confidently say that Jesus would have made a huge "splash" in ancient times. I don't think he really became news, so to speak, until he was raised from the dead and Christianity began to take hold. That's when the society and leaders of the time started to take notice.

So far the only thing close to proof of the existance of the Jesus or Jesus family of the bible is the 1980's discovery of the tomb of Jesus which is the object of the recent television program "The Lost Tomb of Jesus" on the Discovery Channel. Which may very well prove that he was a man who was descended from kings and a threat to the Roman rulers of the time.

Whatever makes u happy to post on here. I heard Mathew who wrote the first account of Jesus made the story up to make the Roman Emperor angry for the Roman Emperor had a rumour going around about him having a magical birth.

Objectively speaking -- you aren't being very objective. You yourself provide three secular references to the existence of Jesus, yet refuse to believe them. And you have to remember the politics of that age -- the roman authorities did not want their religious position undermined, so why is it hard to believe that censorship of anti-roman events or teachings would not take place? Now I am not proclaiming the deity-nature of Jesus, but to say he didn't exist because it makes it easier for you to swallow your own beliefs is ludicrous.

There were 4 contemporaneous writers, Matthew Mark Luke and John
Do you also discount Aristotle and Socrates?

I know it sounds unrealistic, but I have seen him (in silhouette)
I was in a bad place in my life ~ questioning everything when he appeared (no drugs or anything to cause me to hallucinate) .... anyways, when he appeared I could feel his presence ~and from that moment on there was no doubt that he exists!

you can go to: http://jesusphotos.altervista.org/
and these photos are very close to what I had seen

Yes, Jesus did actually exist. Your words are not totally substantiated either, no matter HOW you put them. The hoax may be on you. *WG
