You mean the British Police? I hold them in the highest esteem for doing a very difficult and dangerous job for very little thanks. Yes, they are unpopular when they fine motorists for breaking the law or for arresting people who are drunk, disorderly or worse. They also do a lot of good in emergencies and will volunteer to put themselves at risk to help save others.
In all the years I have worked alongside them, I have never met a corrupt officer, although some have certainly been discovered. A few officers I know are members of the Christian Police Association. The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) are committed to ensuring police act without prejudice and deal professionally with everybody. If you have had a bad experience with the police then channels exist to make a complaint.
A lot of people forget it's not the Police who make the laws - that's down to Government - but they do have to enforce it. Were it not for the Police, anarchy and lawlessness would abound.

Im sure some are, just like anyone could be corrupt. I know lots of police officers as I live with one and I have not yet met a corrupt one. However, I do believe they get a bad press! Dont tar everyone with the same brush!

As stated "The" police are not corrupt and I would imagine of the hundreds of thousands of police officers in the UK, very few are corrupt. Trust me, any UK cop that is corrupt is found out very quickly - I would try doing some more detailed research and stop watching The Bill.
The police have a very difficult job to do and can never, no matter what decision is made, please everybody. Everybody wants bad motorists off the road, unless it's them, of course. Everybody wants drugs off the streets, unless it's their little Jimmy who just got nicked, of course.
Police are not politicians, but are used as fodder for idiots who don't have a clue about the job to criticise and lay blame.
I'd like to know what jobs those who have agreed that the police ae corrupt actually do. No doubt sitting in a cosy office dealing with civilised human beings, 9-5. And please, let us know the source of your wisdom in professing that "The police are corrupt". I would suggest that proving that they are is a little fairer than proving they're not.

As others have said, some are. I know many who are not. I've only met one that rubbed me the wrong way. Other than that, my experience with the local authorities has been great. I once worked as a dispatcher and really got to meet the majority of officers...and they're great guys & gals. People like you and I...with good days & bad days. But, as I said, I never ever witnessed complete and utter corruption. Though, others - sadly - have.

Yes, the police look after their own and of course the solicitors, lawyers etc who defend their main friends the drug dealers. How many police officers have even stood trial for the murder of innocent pedestrians who they have mown down while allegedly responding to emergency calls when in reality they have been racing home because their download of child pornography has failed.

After coffee, they strap on a loaded gun which can't be used under hardly any confrontation. They knock on car windows to check for outdated insurance and are shot by that drug dealer. Each day their life is on the line. They get paranoid, and alcoholic and after 20 yrs a nervous breakdown protecting silly littlle pot-smokers, who whine and demand society to treat them exactly like their 'mothers'.
What the hell have you done lately for society?

The police, as a whole, no... but there are bad apples within EVERY basket. There are bad cops, bad nurses, bad doctors, bad mechanics, bad personal trainers, bad religious leaders, bad politicians, bad teachers, etc. People are people first, the rest is gravy... and not all gravy is nice.
