I have two birds ( a boy and a girl ) they got into a fight already and it looked like a murder. they are both ok, but we split them up and now they seem to want to be together. Should we let them in the same cage again? or should i just keep them in seperate cages? Oh yeah, and the male seems to try to fly in his cage and tries to get out/to the other bird. He is getting the floor full of feathers. Should I take him to a vet or someone to check this out? Or should i just leave it go?

im surprised a girl and a boy are fighting, in bird world its usually the bird of the same gender who fight each other.

u shud go to the vet, but i suggest for the time being keep the birds away from each other.

put a lil mirror in each of their cages. this makes the bird think that theres another bird there with them to play with.

hope my solution solves ur prob!

That seems odd - I can see if you had three birds two males and a female but why a male and a female fight? It seems as if you even had two males or two females they would not fight. What kind of birds are they? I had lories that had babies and then the mother died. Then the two babies grew and the one baby tried to kill the father. I took the babies to the bird store and told her I could not keep them. She traded me for a different kind of bird.

I thought I had a male and female dove in one cage and they fought like crazy. I never had them 'sexed' (tested to find out if they were male or female) it was too expensive. But by watching them I figured out they were both males and thought each other was female, sometimes! I think by placing them close together in seperate cages might be agitating ,don't you think? You might call a vet who specializes in birds.

Maybe the girl bird has eggs coming and the male is trying to protect the female. That sort of happened with my sister's birds.

You could always kill two birds with one stone, although I would not recommend that. I would put them back in the same cage to see if it happens again. If it does, separate them for a while. Could he have been trying to mate with her?

You should let them be together only when you can supervise them. But they need their own cages when they're alone. You never know when they'll have another fight and someone could get seriously hurt next time.
