I AM A MASON THIS IS MY REASON FOR AGREEING WITH THE RULE. NOT JUST A FUNNY LINE BUT REAL REASON.

First, girls can't join the boy scouts they join the girl scouts. Ladies can't join the masons they join the Eastern star.

At my lodge men meet, eat dinner together and talk. I see these men as role models. The bond there is like father to son, brother to brother. I learn for their life experience how to be a better father, husband, and man. I don't think i would feel that way about an older women.

The famous line most masons quote is we make good men better. At a lodge you learn how to be a better man not just a better person. You learn how to be honest trustworthy and hard working.

THIS IDEA IS THE SAME REASONIG BEHIND THE BIG BROTHERS AND BIG SISTERS PROGRAMS. Yet noone complains that they arent placing girls and boys together there

I am 29 and having many friends that range in age from 20 to 85 really lets you understand what life is about. Talking with people that have been where you were and talking to people that are where you are going helps put your life in proper prospective.

Also if I tell my wife i am going to lodge she is okay with that because there are no ladies there.

The point of the group changes if it goes coed. Many other social groups are very close to what the masons are but they allow women.(elks, lions co-masonry) If that is the group you want to belong to join but please don't try and change my group.

I have nothing but great respect for all women. Most lodge do a lot of charity for women and womens groups. We spend a lot of time helping around the houses of the widows of Masons who have died

Who says they cannot join Masonry?
There is an Order called International Co-Freemasonry whose UK HQ is at Ladbroke Grove London and includes women.
The similarity between the two Orders is uncanny and has all the attributes of Masonry and less of the things that people outside the Order are so often criticised for.
P.S. I am not in any Masonic Order - But I know a man who is!

Women can and do join the Masons. I am a Master Mason in the American Co-Masonry Order. We admit women and men, of all religions (as long as they believe in a Supreme Being), of all races, who are of good repute (no felons), who wish to improve the world by improving themselves. We also want folks who are tolerant of races and religions other than their own.

Co-Masonry has been around since the late 1800s. It is spread all over the world. In American Co-Masonry we have Lodges from Canada down to Brasil and Chile. There is an Eastern Order that has Lodges in Europe and Asia. Nice folks.

Even the masculine only rites have had women members (and I am NOT talking about Eastern Star).

We find it much more conducive to family values if women and men can participate as equals, as Brothers. Any group that holds itself necessarily separate breeds a contempt for others who are excluded. We have been champions for universal sufferage (right to vote) and holding property. Thus, in some societies, we are not welcome - believing as we do in the rights of humans to be free and equal.

Hope this answers your question. If you have more about Co-Masonry, feel free to contact me or the folks on the link below.

For the same reason girls can't join Boy Scouts. It's a private "club" for a specialized group. But, there is a female branch of the Masons they can join.

I have heard that there are such things as masonic lodges for women only. I believe there is one near Notting Hill Gate in London, and a recent female prime minister was a member.

just another f...d up outfit ! another discriminatory behavior by a bunch of immature men! - I mean , all I am good for is cooking, cleaning ,squeezing out a few pups and shut my mouth!

never mind the fact that should you get ill I am going to be there to save your life , because that's what I do for a living and that is what I do best!

any sect , any religion , any club could not function without joined effort of their society but I think they cant think that far!

having said that , the masons are doing some good with the children hospitals !
