Hi!
I assume that Lexapro works differently for different people. Some may receive benefits and some my receive setbacks. I've taken Lexapro before, and it did absolutely nothing for me. During the first week, I became really depressed, irritable, and argumentative. After that week progressed, I began to calm down a little, but I felt really awkward, as if I were too sluggish. It didn't really make me tired - my mind was alert, but my body was asleep. I discontinued Lexapro and started taking Paxil, another SSRI. Paxil did me very well, but I got off of it too early. Plus, Paxil (and Prozac) have more interactions with other drugs like antihistamines and cough medicines than any other SSRI. My recommendation would be Zoloft if you haven't taken it already. It really rids you of depression and doesn't interact with other medications. Hope this helps!

No, Lexapro is not a placebo. It did not work for me, but has worked for many people. It did not make me tired, but did give me headaches. If you are depressed (which, I assume you are) then give it a try; it will be worth it if it works. I am taking Cymbalta 60 mg. now and that is working for me.
Good luck to you.

Lexapro works but you need to be in treatment as well or you may not get the full benefit. Try talking to the clinician and see who you should follow up with for therapy.
You could also consider alternative treatment by diet, nutritional supplement and exercise therapies talk to a Natreopath and see what options you may have. Good Luck!

Yes, the medical standing of Lexapro is quite good, especially with teens. Just gradually increase the dose.

I tried Lexapro and it made me black out. It would make me yawn, but not at all sleepy... and when I would yawn, it would go black. One time I had to go to the ER... I dtopped taking it then. It never did anything other than make me dizzy and cost me a ton on going to the ER.

I think Lexapro is a legitimate drug. I don't know of anyone who complains of tiredness or lethargy from it.

When you are ready to really get better you will begin to ask to be taken off the drugs and actually work at recovery on your own steam.
It is your brain. You boss brain slave... Right now, your brain is running amok. Catch up to it and kick its as*s...
