... and I feel terrible that I did. I would like to get another tattoo with him next week, so the question is do I leave him the forgotten tip when I make the appointment or should I leave a double tip next week, after my new tattoo's done?

Leave the tip when you schedule the appointment, and explain that you simply forgot after the last tattoo was done.

I'm sure it happens often. People have been sitting there for a long time, and they're in pain when they leave. A tip is not at the top of their thoughts at that moment.

If it was a long time ago that you forgot to tip (six months or more), just leave it be and double-tip when you leave. Otherwise it will look like you're only tipping because you're arranging for a new tattoo. You've had plenty of time to go back to the shop and make up for your mistake.

I never knew you tipped them. I would leave the forgotten tip when you make the next appointment.

Stop by and give him the tip, apologize for forgetting it last week. Tell him you were very pleased with his work and you'd like to schedule another tattoo. And don't forget to tip him at your next appt!

I didn't tip when I got mine. I am so sick of tipping! Tip at Starbuck's, when you get your hair and nails done, tip the dry cleaner..etc. Tattoo artists charge a lot of money for tattoos. I wouldn't feel bad.

If I were you I would go back in and give the forgotten tip to the artist and apologize for your mistake.

I don't think you need to tip a tattoo artist or piercers either for that matter. I never have.

They're people, he'll understand. Maybe bring a small gift, and leave a tip this time. Explain what happened.

PS Art books are good...=0)

Stop by and see him before your follow up appointment, drop the tip (prob really needs it)....You want his head to be right way before you enter tat zone.

good luck
