Hello,

I have a 1996 4-Runner Limited that I bought new from my local dealership. I have been vigilent in my maintenance (regular oil & filter changes, timing belt changed at around 60,000 miles, and a transmission fluid & filter service at 55,000 miles, etc.) and have NEVER had ANY problems with it. It now has 96,000 miles and I recently had the brakes serviced for the first time. Other than what I've mentioned above, I have only had to purchase tires at regular intervals.

This particular vehicle has a 3.4 liter V-6 and in town driving gives me around 18 miles per gallon where with highway driving I get around 23 mpg.

My 4-Runner is, hands-down, the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. I would highly recommend one to anyone. Just have it checked out by your mechanic and run a Carfax on it prior to purchasing...It could have been badly wrecked, flood damaged, etc..

As for overall performance...EXCEPTIONAL!!! It has remarkable off-road capabilities (the four wheel drive system is great and really easy to use.) as well as more than ample towing prowess. I have towed (both long and short distances) large trailers loaded with a tractor and my rather large and heavy boat with no trouble at all.

Happy motoring and good luck in your search for a truely great vehicle!

Read all this http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AplK5J9OWzsD9VzZlSOIXg7sy6IX?qid=20070301210328AAn8E5d However, all of that does not apply to a used Toyota. Older Toyotas are MUCH better than the junk they make today.
