I haven't smoked in about 6 years and the other day I picked up a cigarette for the first time, stupidly, to combat stress. It was a Marlboro Light. Before I smoked the entire thing I felt an intense high. 10 minutes later I felt very nauseous and I threw up as if I had a quick bout of food poisoning or something and then I felt better. I looked up nicotine allergies and nicotine poisoning but didn't find an answer.

I should also mention that I'm allergic to morphine and I feel the same way (except my airway also closes off) when I am given morphine or dilaudid for my kidney stones. Since I couldn't find the answer online, does anyone think these are related? I'm also relieved to know a cigarette will never be able to tempt me again but I'm still curious as to why I fell so ill.

That "what was I thinkng" comment made me laugh. Please don't judge - you don't know me. I'm going through something very difficult right now and to combat overeating due to stress I thought lighting a cigarette would keep me from gaining wait and curb my stress despite the neg. side effects. As I said, I've already learned my lesson.

It's becuase you don't smoke!!! Sometimes in the morning (when i used to smoke) I'd still get a head rush, and feel a little queasy if I hadnt eaten.
Smokes just do that to u. Strange why people pay for that,eh? haha
If you started smoking regularily, it would go away.. your body's just freaking out. The nicotene is a stimulant. Theyre all around BAD for you.. hopefully this will keep you from smoking!!! lol

I say it the Nicotine. Since you stopped your body has recovered so now the Nicotine make you a little Nauseous. If, you keep smoking then in time your body re-adjust, but, I think just not smoking be the best. Think of what else the money can buy.

That's your body sending you the message that smoking is bad for you. Get some hard candy & stay off the cigarettes! You did so well at not smoking for 6 years. What were you thinking? I wish I could quit & intend to someday. Smoking is just a plain nasty habit. Good luck & have a nice day.

All of the poisonous stuff in it made you ill. Your body is not accustomed to cigarettes any more and it was just like a kid smoking his first cigarette.

okay, I know the feeling, I smoke, and I smoke menthols, but, smoke capri's and if I smoke anything else it gets my allergies killing me, and if I'm in a smoke filled room, my allergies get so bad I get hoarse, and I know I shouldn't be smoking, and yes, I have also on occasion get sick as a dog smoking and don't smoke, I'm also allergic to morphine and have to have surgeries almost every year internal thing, and they have to give me demerol, which makes make sick, it starts coming from both the mouth and the bottom if you know what I mean, but, my last surgery, they gave me morphine, and it was totalling worse than the pain, and I told them to just let me bear with the pain, instead of the allergic reaction I was getting because it was worse than the pain to me, but, good thing you don't want to smoke, and also, I am going to see a weight dr., which I go every week to get a shot of vitamins ect..plus get diet pills, prescription, but, have to go every week, and I'm a food aholic, I love to eat, and I gained 50lbs in the last year, and going to this weight dr. I've lost thirty pounds as of yesterday which I started the week of Thanksgiving, and I crave fried chicken, and even though the diet pills help, they still don't help me wanting foods that arn't on my diet, so, I drink alot of v-8 juice, and when I get a craving really bad, I sometimes eat it, but, don't let it mess my entire diet up, and I've lost not by just eating diet foods, I'm eating what I want, and yes, it's coming off slow, but, that's the best way, I just cut my portions and eat every little bit, and it's not diet food, so, try that, but, don't smoke again, and another thing I have found to kill the cravings and want to eat, I hate exercise, so I do things around the house ect..go outside clean the house ect. that curves your appetite, but, I know that for no reason when I smoke, I get sick feeling, and just don't smoke that day, and I know I have to quit, but, I'm just not ready, and it's like your weight, you have to be ready to quit anything, and until you are, you are not going too, so you have to just get it in your mind that you want to watch your weight, and to do it on your on, although I'm sitting here paying too many bucks I still treat myself to my favorite fattening food sometimes, and just spread it out, but, I've lost weight without it being diet food, I eat what I like, just in moderation...so, glad you kicked the habit, and you maybe allergic now to smoke/smoking, I know I'm so allergic to so many things now, it's not funny and I take allergy meds and such, but, I'm having a mildew problem where I live, which is where I work too, and my allergy meds arn't helping, and guess I'm going to have to go to the dr. because, I've told the owner and he has blessed the contractor out about getting this mess fixxed, and the contractor swears mold and mildew won't hurt you, but, I'm not stupid, but, stay away from the cigs, and forget dieting, just eat in moderation..good luck

Maybe because it's your first time, smoke too much, or puff too fast.
