I have a cold sore...I get them 3-4 times a year. I ice them, take Lyscine, use Abreva, etc. So that's not what I'm asking about. It's at the scabbing stage now. It's been falling off little pieces at a time. I know it's good to keep it moist so I've been using the Abreva and Hepecin lip balm for that. But does anybody know about anything else that works to heal the scab quicker?

I use myrrh tincture and find it brilliant - it works from first you notice the cold sore - then it speeds up the process of scabbing and falling off. I'd highly recommend it.

Also consider taking zinc and vitamin c supplement if get frequent cold sores - i found this has enormously reduced the amount i suffer from them. Apparently deficiency can caused lowered immune system and more cold sores if you're prone to them. I've taken them for around 5 years now!
