There is nothing like the original. Almost any "universal" remote will compromise some of original functions. If you don't lose your menu button, you probably lose you input selector or something else you will surely wish you had.

I've done both ways. The original costed me about $60. The universal costed around $20. I go with the universal now. I write the codes inside the battery cover. Also if you change appliances, then you can use them for an extra remote for when you lose the original.

Usually I go with the universal, but I have had a couple units that I could not get any universals to work with. Then I had to go with an original instead. Nice thing about the universal is you can often program one remote to work with several devices, reducing the number of remotes you need.

Universal is the cheaper way to go! But if you order the original from the internet, with the same make and model, etc, then you know for sure that it is going to work!

Cheers
