Unfortunately, until you are 18 nothing can legally be yours. It is technically your parents' car.
I grew up with a few similar problems. My family was poor, as my dad and sister both had battled (and beaten) cancer. And we never had good luck with cars. The point is that when you are part of a family, you need to make sacrifices. Sure, I was pissed when they took my car, but how else were they to get to work and put food on the table for us?
You can walk to work, which is great. Save up your money and buy a car of your own with the title in your name. Try not to be too mad at your parents. It's not like they're trying to hurt you on purpose.

All I can say is: GROW UP.

Yes, it is completely unfair to have the car taken away from you, but it also sounds like your parents are desperate, to have done something like this. Cut them some slack...
They need a car! Their car was taken away! (repossessed, whatever)
Listen, dude, these are the parents that have raised you since you were a baby, sacrificed to feed and clothe you, and have done the best they could by you...*even if their "best" wasn't very good*.

Maybe they suck as parents, I can't know....but still, they *are* your parents, good, bad or indifferent. Your job is to "honor your mother and father" even if they're a "bad" mother and father. It's not that you will get anything from them, necessarily, but just in following this commandment, God can then bless you.

That other poster was right....You will have lots of cars in your life. I know how important it is to a 17 year old guy to have a car. But, just give it a rest, bum rides with your friends, maybe your parents will let you borrow theirs from time to time, (esp. if you are gracious about this insult from them)

Just use this as a learning experience to grow up and be mature. Vow that you will manage your money better than your parents have. Vow that you will keep your word to your children and to try to see things from their point of view, etc. etc.

Don't let your suffering be for nothing. LEARN FROM IT.

It's unfair but you are getting older and soon will have some independence and you will be free to protect your money because you have that independence. Are your parents paying for college (if you go) and do they put food on the table and a roof over your head? They may be strapped financially and this was wrong for them to do - it was also kind of a desperate move. They suddenly are considering all property in the family to be communal property? That's why I think they have financial problems. For sure, it's something they have to work out themselves but as soon as you are independent, keep that in mind and be more responsible yourself!

If the papers for the car are in your name, and you own it outright, then it's yours. Plain & simple.

So park it / garage it somewhere else- unless it's too late.
If you still have the papers, but they sold the car anyway, your parents may be guilty of Grand Theft Auto, and not the video game either.
If they forced you to give up the papers, there's not much you can do except save up your money, and move out. Your parents sound like a bad influence.

Im confused here. Did they give u the 100 dollars freely or did u have to do chores for it?

If u got the money freely, then technically they can pull the car from u, unless the car you bought is in your name.
If its in your name u can legally say no to having ur parents take it away from you.
The only way they can legally get that car from u is if u sign it over to them or they take u to court.

Well if the parents just gave you all the money then there is nothing wrong you should of gotten the money your self but if you got the money from doing chores you are right it is stupid.

You've got one more year then you will find out how different things are out from under your parents. Good luck, forget about the car. they'll be others.

I think your parents should grow up you are working hard each day and you should not be punished for their mistakes. They should be able to come up with a solution that works for everyone the is a parent duty.

I think it is ********! Put your foot down and let them know that you need that car to get to and from work. If the car is under your name then it is your car and they cant do anything about it. Take it to Judge Judy or Judge Joe Brown!!!
